I guess time will tell.  They seem to like this kid for some reason.  He is tall and a lefty, just not sure that is enough to help the team enough long term.

Went 8 innings.  Their "ace" pitcher got rocked!  Fondtain wasn't fooling anybody.  Fuson still has good stuff!

Looks like Junior TJ Fondtain and Jack Bengsten are going to be the main starters.  Jake is mainly the closer.  I have watched a Sophmore, Luke Sula, and he seems to be good as well.  They also have Senior Connor Barbrick who is effective.  They are deep in pitching, but only a few really stand out.

Spot on Press box.

I do see Hormel and Jones as the top boys on the team as well. Miggy normally die off on his hitting when they start seeing the fast stuff.  What are your thoughts on Fondtain as a pitcher?

I am thankful for Pagmeter.  With Boogard gone it is really all we have for the valley.

Could be right about CW, but still to early to see.  Buchanan is off to a good start. Lots of pitchers and the bats are awake right now.  Hard to really tell until we get into the top TRAC teams.

Don't think it's the same kid then.  Players name is Ortego that left.  Pretty young. I hear he is related to the Ortiz family if that is the bloodline you're speaking of?

The transfer was a bullpen catcher.  Dont see him as a big threat.

The Coke Classic is going and all teams are at full swing!  Buchanan has now gone 2-0 against Tulare Western and Hanford West.  I just heard Clovis High lost today against Edison 3-1.  Surprised about that one!
Pagmeter is doing good at updating the tourney. Central also beat Selma so Fontes for his first win today as head coach!

Baseball / Re: TRAC PRESEASON RANKING

I really disagree with most of this.

#1 Buchanan:  They mentions pitching.  Between the pitching and the catcher position, these are big drop offs from last year.  Infield has one big returning name, Hormel.  Outfield should be solid.

#3 Clovis: They are always one of the top teams. Patrick's experience should take them far!

#4 CN:  With an excellent new head Coach and some quality pitching, they should be a stand out.  The return of Bell will help lead the team.

#6 Central:  Brad Fontes has the respect and the pitching to take this team far.  The should be a tough this year.

Baseball / TRAC PRESEASON RANKING
February 06, 2018, 01:59:12 PM
@TRACBASEBALL preseason rankings.

1.Buchanan-should pitch and catch everything thing in the OF. Can they replace top valley catcher and infield play?
2. CW-This veteran club get off to hot start? Arms should be solid. Will catchers manage the game.
3. Clovis-Veteran club last year pushed them to a Valley Title. Will they respond to defending a title? Look for them late in the season to sprout.
4. CN-Will they respond to new coach? Mound is a question. How quickly will the Coopers adjust to much tougher league.
5. CE-will they keep growing with  Head Coach Smith? Couple solid arms should keep them in most games. Will bats evolve?
6. Central-many questions for returning Head coach Brad Fontes. Mound depth is thin, bats still a question. Lots of coaching to do.

I do get why some parents would be a upset. I have no idea how TRAC gets their information.  It doesn't seem to be from stats or even from watching or being dialed into who is playing.  You would think it would come from past  performances in the TRAC games.  Players were mentioned on the "watch list" that were sat during season due to poor performance.
