As some of you long timers know I'm no longer a Californian anymore. I now live in North Idaho. Halfway between Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint. I've got a view of Mt Spokane Ski Resort (there are actually 5 ski resorts with an 1.5 hour drive)..too bad I'm not an avid skier. This area reminds me of 1980s ..friendly neighbors...low crime... Its like a flannel clad Mayberry. It's nice to live where the citizens are armed..the police are WELL armed...the teachers can carry on campus and the pastor has 5.56 NUT for his license plate. I do miss the valley.....wait..no I don't. I miss the people in the valley. High School Football isn't hard charging here. WSU Cougs are closest college and the Seahawks are the default .12th man flags everywhere. But Iron Horse in CDA packs full with 49er fans...so that's refreshing. I just renewed the registration on my new F150... 165.00 for 2 years, and 20.00 for 2 years state park pass. I leave my .45 in the center console ( concealed is legal here..as are full auto and suppression for hunting and home defense). Gas is 2.95 gal. Power bill is under 200.00 month. It's mind numbingly clean...no homeless..no corner beggers. The only traffic jams in town are if a moose decides to lay down on Maine St in Spirit Lake.
A drive around CDA Lake right now will be filled with sights of 30-50 bald eagles fishing for kokane salmon. It's like living in a National Park.
AQI is never over 30...clean air til fire season...and wood burning is a religion here
The one perplexing thing I struggle with daily is...wth HAPPENED TO CALIFORNIA? I'd still be there if it was still like here !
Be well friends
