About 3 years ago, I started a thread about a small 6th grader who did things on the field I have never seen! And I have been around ALOT of football. People then attacked myy assesment of this kid ... well here is an update .... make sure to read the stat line, because it might be the only kid you ever will see to post these kind of numbers! Amazing!  Click the following link ... don't worry, the title is about his faith overcoming an injury ... this is a must read if you want to know the future!

If you have not had the pleasure to watch the Clovis Cowboys play this year, your missing out on seeing maybe the greatest running back to ever come out of the Valley, Matthews included! His name is Malik Lee Jr. This kids is nothing short of AMAZING! I have never seen a kid do the things he does on the field and I have seen A LOT of youth football! Whoever lands Malik in middle and high school is going to be in coaches bliss once they see know he is coming! Wow! Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on seeing a future star! And let them know Blue Blood told u so!

Central Section Football / Sophmore Sensations
October 06, 2012, 01:45:05 PM
After sitting out the first 4 weeks due to transfer rule, Sophmore Stevan (pronounced St-Evan) Johnson of SJM has emerged! I had the pleasure to watch Stevan play since his 7th grade year at Tenaya. He had 4 TD's last night against Madera and has emerged as SJM's next star running back. Big BIG loss for Bulllard to see this kid go and a HUGE addition for SJM! Congrats to this young man who is making positive steps in his life towards a college scholarship. Keep up the hard work! Keep an eye out for him!

Central Section Football / The T. McDonald Factor
November 02, 2011, 06:17:56 AM
  I was sitting here reading some of the boards about Edisons success this year under coach McDonald again and it got me thinking. I can not recall a time in fresno HS history when one coach meant as much team a team and a community as Tim does to the Edison community. A lot of negative things have been said about Tim and the way he handles his team, but in the end its very clear that his team, and the Edison community LOVE him and he is the best man for the job! You can see that in the way the parents and kids reacted to him leaving, and coming back. When Tim left, D1 prospects left, when he returned, new ones showed up and some came back! I am a Bullard grad and of course I Bleed Blue, but credit is given where credit is due. Thanks Tim for coming back to Fresno HS Football to guide our youth! Your leadership and guidance of these boys is appreciated further than the Edison district boundries. Keep up the great work!

What Happened To The Fresno Bee's HS Football Coverage??? They used to list stats, have in depth interviews and do a weekly feature.  Now we are lucky if we get a ranking out on time for Tueday! Growing up in a small eastcoast town, our local sports was huge even though we were 10 mins from a major city! All the way down to the youth league we had sports coverage, even if it was just scores. I know that the Fresno Bee sports section isn't big enough to cover it all, but can you atleast aassign someone to cover varsity sports a little more in depth. I miss the high school coverage of the 90's!

With the thousands of high school football players graduating each year, a lot of times they leave the area to play college ball and no one even heard of it. This thread is a place to list your friends, family or teamates accomplishments of making a college team. Feel free to post stats or web sites where we can watch their games on-line.

Central Section Football / Super Sophmores of 2011
October 14, 2011, 08:23:30 AM
Now that the season is over the halfway point, what sophmores have proven themselves to be the future of CV Football? Who should we make sure we see play as an underclassmen so when we see him on Saturdays or Sundays we can be proud of our hometown guy?

First two on the list,

Elijia Porchia - Mission Oak H.S. in Tulare, Ca. RB/WR/DB/KR
-I dont not have his exact stats yet but this kid is legit! Fast, powerful and has the vision of his uncle, Dominique. Dorsey! Once hhe is a junior, and if he has the grades, watch alll the colleges come knocking on Elijia's door. Super potential!

Isaiah Justice - Bullard High School in Fresno, Ca S/RB/WR/KR
-I know Isaiah personally, and just like his older brothers, is a great kid with tremendous talent! He is a threat to take the ball to the house on every return! His aggressive play on Defense has put him in the right spot to make play after play! The younger brother of Caleb is now looking for his own Valley ring and is just the right kid to lead the defense to a title before 2013 is over!

I watched a young but talented Bullard team treat Hoover as if they were practicing against the JV's. It seemed like Hoover's defense was standing still. Bullard receivers were wide open all night (and dropped a few open passes) and the holes for the RB's were the size of Texas. I have to say watching the game I was both excited yet sad at the same time. Excited to see my Fighting Knights take home the Barstow Plaque again for the.... how many yrs in a row now?? But so sad to see the rivalry fade away!. In my HS days during the 90's, it was a true rivalry. I wouldn't be suprised if it was 5-5 from 90-00! The many true Battles we had were ones we now look back on and relive in our minds and through our stories. I feel bad that these kids don't get to take the same memories away from this great rivalry that we did! Pullin for you Hoover! Times will improve! Hoping for a great battle in '12! Go Knights!

Because of one player, Elijia Porchia, I have been following Mission Oak for 3 yrs. Before I learned of Elijiahs existance, I had no clue there was a school named Mission Oaks in Tulare! But they have busted onto the scene this year and according to the Bee's rankings, are still flying under the radar. They are 3-1 and just beat an undefeated top 15 Porterville team! But were still left off the rankings! Beware, Mission Oak is for real!

  It looks like one of the toughest middle school football leagues in the state is getting a little tougher. The CCJFC is expanding from 8 to 10 teams with the addition of Glacier Middle School which is a brand new Central Unified school opening next fall and the other is Lincoln Middle School of Selma school district. The divisions are as follows;

National Division;
Tenaya
Rio Vista
Reedley
M.L. King
Lincoln

American Division;
Sanger
T. Jefferson
El Capitan
Desmond
Glacier

  Should be a great. Season of football in 2011!

Go Braves!

Wouldn't it be awesome if all the conference champs played in a tournament to crown the area champ? If I had my way, I would make a Fresno/Clovis/Madera area tourny, a Tulare County tourny, a kings county tourny & so on. That would be alot of fun. But in order for that to happen the CIF needs to ban weight limits in football in all leagues. With the size of kids now-a-days, weight limits just dont make any sense anymore. Back in the day, maybe one or two kids could make the limit. Now, you might have half a dozen or more and they are most times the best players. Let's start taking steps to improve middle school athletics, especially football!

  Does anyone know what year the scheduling problems started with Middle School football? I am a new coach over at Tenaya this year & I played football for Bullard Youth and also at Bullard High. When I moved to Ca and played 1 year of youth football, I played for Bullard and we played the schedule as the HS Varsity team. I loved the format because it was fun to interact with the HS players about the offenses/defenses of your opponent and it also made it fun as a HS player to go out on Saturdays and see how the future is looking.

  Now, it seems like the leagues in middle schools dont make any sense. I am wondering why the middle school leagues dont match up. It seems that it would make scheduling so much easier and it only makes sense. It created some amazing rivalries ('96 Class at BHS had some great battles with CW starting at the 8th grade level when we played Kastner and they edged us out and then the next year we beat CW on the last play of the game as freshmen and carried over to our 21-26 loss to CW our senior year). But I can remember playing against Brent Gutierrez and Steve Craig all the way back to 8th grade. Then we we all played in the city/county together it made it fun to talk trash about all the years you hated each other. (I actually became good friends with some CW guys which I could never imagine would happen since all I thought about all off season was was kicking their butts.

  I just think there is something special about playing the same schedule as the HS for 7th & 8th graders. I know it has created some great memories for me and also brought me some great friends! My vote is we bring this back and let the kids enjoy what I got to experience!
