The size of Central (student body) was all part of the plan. In 1997. the student populous was about 1,600- 1,800 students...........but the administration saw 77 square miles (size of the district) of farm land that could be partialed out to have homes built on it. The student population is now 4,500, give or take a couple hundred. Who knows where the Grizzlies are headed athletically? The current schematic includes a west and east campus......and with tentative plans to build a new high school at the site of Koligian Stadium. A few years back the powers to be were throwing around the idea of having campuses "A", "B" and "C".............with each campus housing selected sports and facilities under the umbrella of one school. In todays world of stretched finances. this makes bug time sense.........one set of facilities, one set of coaches, fewer administrators, fewer sets of uniforms, smaller insurance binders, smaller transportation expenses, etc. This has all been part of a plan to catch up to Clovis Unified.......it just took 20 years to get there (which really isn't that long if you consider how many years Clovis Unified was a doormat to Fresno Unified until Dr. Buchanan changed all that in the early 70's.
