I had the Privilege to Coach with Coach Parris on the Track and Field Staff for the Last 6 Seasons 2009/2014.
I learned a lot from him. I was a young coach in my 3rd year with the program when he became the head Track Coach. Knowing his background from his Days at Madera High I knew he was a winner. His First year at Madera South in 2008 the Cross Country boys won their First of 6 straight Valley Titles in 3 different divisions
2008/09 D3 2010/11 D2 2012/13 D1. The first team in Valley history to do that. The girls Cross Country team won their first Valley title last Season D2. On the Track and field side we won a total of 9 League titles 5 boys and 4 girls.
2009- 2012 our boys and girls won the North Yosemite League (NYL) titles and 2013 our boys won the County Metro Athletic Conference (CMAC) title our First year in the league. He has done a lot for the City of Madera and the central Section. He will be missed at Madera South as XC and Track coach. We are happy to see him live his goal and Become an Athletic Director. Chowchilla high is getting a great Man and a great Leader.
Eloy Quintana is the new head XC and Track coach. He has worked with us the last two seasons if there is anyone the can continue the success of the XC program at Madera South it's Eloy. I'm looking Forward to working with him in Track in the Spring.

When the summer began, word began to circulate about Madera South cross country and track coach Rich Parris and his future.

Parris, the architect of six straight Valley championships and a runner-up in the state championships last year, left the Stallions cross country program to become the athletics director at Chowchilla High School.

Parris' right-hand man last year, Eloy Quintana, has been officially promoted to take the top spot for the Stallions by new athletics director Andrea Devine.

"Parris told me I was the perfect man to take over the program," Quintana said. "For me, it was an honor for him to bestow so much trust. This is his baby. This is about making a difference in lives here."...

I totally agree with you coach.  It's rough not knowing how many to expect but it is alot of fun to watch it grow.  Thankful for coaches like you and the Madera South staff for spreading the word.  Alot of Stallions out there on Saturday!  Was expecting to see more of a extreme south valley contingent however. (Bakersfield).  There were some, but not as many as i'd have thought.  WOndering if they might have headed to a souther cal meet to keep dry. ;)

Thank you for having us. our athletes had a good time they really enjoy this meet. We are looking forward to a good and exciting season

There were many stories at the Valley Masters.  I'll try and give my thoughts on them.
Team Titles
Boys: Buchanan-70 pts, Edison-47.50 pts,  and Stockdale-42 pts

Buchanan Boys, were the Usual Suspects claiming another Title (5th consecutive) AGAIN, congrats to them.
But lost in all of that, as they had depth in all the events was the fact that in the 110 High Hurdles
Buchanan's Adam Soesman, just a Junior, who was a runner in the first Heat (the slower one) actually
ran the fastest time and WON the Valley 110 High Hurdles title.  I have never seen in over 8 years
anyone take first place running in the slower heat, so that was an incredible run.

Girls: Buchanan-89.70 pts, Edison-84 pts, CN-3rd, and CW-4th
Buchanan Girls pulled this one out with the help IMO of CN and CW who squeezed their way in
between these 2 teams to take away point from Edison in particular.  The trio athletes of CN
Hannah Waller(400m), Mikaela Smith(800m-LJ), and Rhesa Foster(100m-100HH-LJ) actually
squeezed points away from Edison to help Buchanan's team title cause.  The athletes of CW
Nikki Okwelogu (Discus/Shot Put), and Lyndsey Lopes (HJ-300mlh-100mh) also contributed to
their team points.

This Double win, never happens, IMO.
Brad Beekman Clovis East wins both the Pole Vault & Discus.....WOW!!!

It was an overall Good meet. Congrats to Buchanan AGAIN on winning valley. On the Girls side. Buchanan girls got some extra help also from Edison's Murray in the HJ. She jumped 5-10 at Area came in ranked 1st in valley. At the Valley meet she jumped 5-5 placing 5th. Edison lost points there. Not putting the blame on one kid it is a team sport. Edison also didn't have Tia Edwards in the 300 hurdles. She fell over the last hurdle at Area got up and still ran 48. She was an Alt for Valley. She has ran 45 sec this season in those. No one is to blame things happen. It was overall great meet. Looking forward to State
