that is so weird because a couple years ago when all the old white guys that wear New Balance shoes from Ross where gonna quit watching the NFL because guys were kneeling the NFL was suppose to really feel the impact of their "boycott". Mind you the NFL had nonprofit tax exempt status, not sure if it still does.

Taylor Swift filled that gap with all her young followers. So, "those guys" will not be missed.

I am a big F1 racing fan, F1 did the same. They and Vegas were working together to maximize their profits. This will be the new norm in Vegas.

Protest, like bedroom performance, is often a matter of stamina and most people over-estimate theirs.

The NFL is probably considering making Las Vegas the permanent home of the Super Bowl.  They have the best of everything in one spot.  I'm sure Las Vegas could make it lucrative enough for the owners to agree.

I wouldn't surprise me but I would think that cities Phoenix, New Orleans and Miami would want it to keep rotating around

Vegas has had a plan since the early 70's...to dominate the entertainment world (all entertainment).
Sports entertainment was their final frontier.  But...the gambling thing (fixing games) scared a lot of the potential business away (until the last 5-10 years). The first to take the leap were the Golden Knights (hockey) which won a Stanley cup...which have been a booming success, followed by the women's WNBA tram which won a lady's world title.  Grand Prix racing is now on the circuit, NASCAR has been for years.  The big get was the Raiders...who would have ever thought, NFL football in Vegas (Not that many years ago, they wanted nothing to do with LV and it's gambling persona). The NBA has taken the their All Star game to Vegas and there is talk of building an NBA arena on the very south end of the strip (below South Point Casino, near the "M"). With the building of Allegiant Stadium (The Death Star), UNLV moved their football program into the new building... where they have their own locker room and playing surface (they have been on the upswing ever since the moved in).  Not to mention the A's look poised to be the next major sports attraction in Sin City (2028) at the site of the historic Tropicana Hotel on the strip.  The City has been home to AAA baseball for years.  The college dollars roll into the town as well.  They host 4 or 5 NCAA conference tournaments in early March every year (MWC at Thomas and Mack, Pac12 @ T-Mobile Arena, WCC & WAC @ The Orleans and The Big West @ the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson).  It's been the mecca for UFC (the corporate office are there), World Championship Boxing, Rugby 7's...every famous comedian, singer, magician rock band, etc. want a residency stint in the City. They got some world class dinning there as well. Vegas is no longer the little gambling stop of the 60's and early 70's....it's a world class city and metropolis. From 1970 when it had about 200,000 people in LV, North LV and Henderson...To it's current 2.3M people to help support 100's of "Big Time" events each year....helped out by their 140,000 hotel rooms (which attract thousands of Californian's each week end, plus travelers from all over the continental United States as well as the world   The City is primed for P5 college football and basketball as well.  The Rebels will get the invite way before Fresno State gets a bid.  Just look at the two cities..one looks like a diamond...the other a stagnate dump.  Not to mention the Harry Reid International Airport (use to be McCarran Airport)...is the 7th busiest airport in the nation (over 25 million people pass through it a year).  The Anthill didn't use to think that the trajectory of the town was sustainable (was growing to fast and water was an issue).  The Anthill was wrong...they just keep adding casinos, neighborhoods, golf courses, stadiums, arena's etc...and the water keeps coming out of the tap.  And now they have hosted the Super Bowl (and the NFL draft).  The State of Nevada knows how to get things done (in short order).

its my understanding from a friend that lives in Vegas that there is a plan to build a new airport out by Primm. Once the A's are in Vegas how long will it be before an NBA team moves there?

anthilllegend

Teddy, when this becoming a pro sports town all started in Sin City...it was believed that basketball (NBA) was coming first...when the Maloof brothers sold the Kings (Sacto) and bought the Palms Hotel and Casino on the west side of Highway 15 (over by the Rio).  So I don't think the basketball deal will be that far off.  It's possible basketball may actually plays in the town before the A's ever do (that stadium is not expected to be done until the 2028 season). Things happen fast in the state of Nevada. There is a high speed rail proposed from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.  Would bet it's finished years before California's Chowchilla to Shafter boondoggle, which is  over 10 years in the making (and probably another 10 from ever have a train running on it.

Add the Las Vegas Bowl with them hosting SEC and Big 10 teams. They will need to increase their pay from 2.9 mill to more than 10 mill to be relevant.

Will the Vegas bowl now have teams from the SEC and Big 10? That is a great Bowl game, been going to that for years.

Yup, they ended their Pac12 agreement and added the SEC.

that will make for a much better game than the PAC12 vs Mountain West. The Pac 12 championship game was a good one there, I wonder if they will try to lure a conference title game to replace it

The Big Ten and ACC would make sense as both conferences now span from the east coast to the west coast.  Heck, maybe even the Big 12, though I think Jerry Jones might try to keep that championship game at his stadium.
