Baseball / Re: Top Teams
March 11, 2024, 09:57:25 AM
Quote from: SparkPlug on March 11, 2024, 09:02:50 AMI assume the offense will get better with the return of Decaneo.  Plus, they have the best hitting mind west of the Mississippi, in Patt Where.  It's early and many teams are struggling, but yes CW has been disappointing offensively early on.

CW is definitely struggling. 3 for 23 vs Hanford (.130) and 2 for 22 vs El Diamante (.090) and 3 of those hits were from CW's RF, Sharp. Their "Best Hitting Mind" surely has is work cut out for him heading into League. This is not where CW wants to be right now.

I think this season will be truly interesting in TRAC.

Baseball / D-6 Rankings
March 08, 2024, 12:49:15 PM
About time I post my thoughts.

1-Shafter (7-1)
These guys are Giant Slayers and likely will find themselves in D-5 for Playoffs

2-Yosemite (5-0)
Having a great start, but could be the victim of their own success. They're a solid D-6, but CIF will likely screw them and bump them to D-5 for playoffs.

3-Sierra (4-2)
They're taking advantage their early opponents still having players in winter sports. Having said that, they're getting it done and will have a great year.

4-Woodlake (3-3)
Finally have all their horses in the lineup and it shows. Have a real shot at repeating as D-6 Champions.

5-Orange Cove (2-3)
Playing teams above their level and competing. They will compete for ESL League.

6-Parlier (4-4)
Beating the teams they should.

7-Rosamond (5-5)
Feast or famine with these guys. Lots of lopsided wins/loses but beating teams above their level. Should show well come playoff time.

8-Riverdale (2-2)
Just getting started. They need some seasoning if they hope to make a run at playoffs.

9-Orosi (2-3)
Playing well at times. Soiling themselves at times.

10-Farmersville (2-3)
With a new coach, to never know what the season can bring. Has the potential to compete in a suddenly competitive ESL.

The rest of the Division look like cannon fodder, but things can change.

Baseball / Buchanan
February 19, 2024, 12:44:27 PM
Gotta admit, I've been outta the loop for a while, but in reading some of these threads there's a lot of negativity focused on Buchanan. Much of that regards the new HC.

Am I reading this wrong?

I thought with Glaus joining a Valley program it would elevate baseball in general here in the CS and specifically in TRAC.

Also, the start of any season is typically weak due to overlapping sports. The 1st 5 games of baseball should be discounted when it comes to a teams overall ability.

Just my $.02

Congratulations recently graduated Bulldog Payton Allen on being named the new Head Coach at Mt Whitney.

I hadn't heard Coach Yockey left the program.  Is the rest of the staff still at Whitney?

Baseball / Sleeper Game in D-6
May 23, 2023, 07:32:24 AM
Most won't care, but the game of the day is in D-6. Young upstart Woodlake (18-8) travels to Lake Isabella for a semi-final match against Kern Valley (18-7). The Tigers have been strong on the road this season and aren't afraid of anyone. Coach Gamez has a really young squad and have played outstanding baseball all season.  KV's Coach, Mike Genthner has always fielded a tough squad and play exceptionally well at home.  This should be a true battle, an likely produce the eventual D-6 Champion.

Baseball / Re: D1 Quarter Final Predictions

I only have GameChanger to base this upon, but El D outlasted and chased Clovis' #1 Pitcher, went ahead vs Clovis Closer, then launched on Clovis #2 pitcher.  And El D threw Petty, not Bettencourt.  Seems the better team played 7 full innings vs a team that likely took El D for granted.

I doubt, after facing them 3 times, that Redwood takes El D for granted.  Having said that, I think this game could go either way and should be a lot closer than 6-2. IMHO

Not a bad list. You over value Centennial and Liberty, and you're crazy to put CE as a top 10, but I get it that you're biased that way. Bakersfield Christian and Tulare Western belong in that group, though.

Baseball / Re: Pagmeter Rankings
April 07, 2023, 04:12:02 PM
I'm so grateful CIF doesn't use his rankings.  His latest 'rankings' are a joke. He cries about how unfair it is to move teams up and down Divisions, then advocates for moving teams up and down. Teams have the ability, at the start of each season, to challenge their Division placement.  CIF needs to respect that and not mess with moving teams around. Too many shenanigans.  And Pagmeter needs to respect that.

Baseball / Pagmeter Rankings
March 27, 2023, 11:22:19 AM
Nick is ranting about how unfair the ranking system is, then advocates for being unfair by moving mid-level teams (AG/El D) into an upper bracket. Can't have it both ways, Nick.  There are 14 D-1 teams. It's not necessary to push a team or two into D-1 just to have 16 teams.  That's ludicrous.  Keep sad sack Clovis East in D-1. They may be horrible this season, but there's someone on this site who actually thinks they're a Top 10 team.  Let CE prove it, instead of making their playoff chances more favorable. Just my $.02.
