What does the field think about this match up.  I have already gone on the record picking Corcoran.  I do think Immanuel has a very impressive running attack that is tough to stop.

Central Section Football / ESL All League Selections
December 04, 2013, 09:06:39 AM
Here is the report from the Porterville Recorder:

The Lindsay High football team dominated the East Sequoia League this past season, so the Cardinals ended up dominating the all-ESL selections as well.

Lindsay, which finished a perfect 5-0 in the ESL, had 10 players chosen to the all-league first team and nearly swept all of the league's top awards. Jacob Hernandez was named as the league's Most Valuable Player, Chris Misaalefua was named as the Lineman of the Year, Gaven Mann was named as co-Offensive Player of the Year and Jess Lira was named as the Coach of the Year. Also named to the first team for Lindsay were Alex Jara, Angel Cortes, Havir Bain, Jose Barba, Marcus Villarreal, Marcus Nunez and Adrial Garcia.

Strathmore was also well-represented on the first team as Rico Madrigal, Juan Arrellano, Tony Cruz, Sergio Hernandez, Uriel Mejia and Cody Chapa were named to the first team. Named to the first team for Granite Hills were Pedro Jimenez and Ruben Arreola.

Hernandez was the league's top all-around threat with 2,141 all-purpose yards. Hernandez rushed for 1,103 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 7 yards a carry and caught 35 passes for 572 yards for a 16.3-yard average and six TDs.

Jara had an outstanding season, completing 58.3 percent of his passes (179-for-307) for 2,678 yards and 28 touchdowns. His main target was Mann, who had a monster season, with 1,140 yards receiving on 60 receptions for a 19.0 average and 14 touchdowns. Cortes was also a top target with 43 catches for 594 yards and two TDs.

Misaalefua was the league's top overall lineman on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Bain was named to the first team as an offensive lineman.

Villarreal made a case for Lindsay to have a clean sweep of the top awards as he arguably could have been named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Villarreal had 130 tackles, 18 for loss. Nunez was first team as a defensive lineman with 43 tackles, 11 for loss. Borba, an all-league first team linebacker, had 79 tackles, nine for loss. Garcia was named to the first team as a defensive back.

Madrigal was named to the first team as a running back and to the second team as a linebacker. Madrigal rushed for 1,168 yards for a 6.1 average and 14 scores. Cruz was a top all-around threat for SHS with 25 catches for 359 yards and four TDs and averaged 7.6 yards a carry with 281 yards rushing and one score.

Hernandez, an integral part of Strathmore's rushing attack as a blocking tight end, was named to the first team as a tight end and a kicker. Mejia, one of the league's most dangerous returners, was named to the first team as a specialty player and to the second team as a defensive back. Chapa was named to the first team as a defensive end and Arrellano was named to the first team as an offensive lineman.

Jimenez was named to the first team as an offensive lineman and Arreola was named to the first team as a defensive back for Granite.

Named to the second team were Lindsay's Juan Salas at linebacker and Jose Lopez at kicker; Strathmore's Juan Bravo at offensive lineman; and Granite's Pedro Baca as an offensive lineman, Omar Rios as a defensive back, Gerardo Acevedo as a linebacker and specialty player and Fernando Tapia as a defensive lineman.

Say what you want but the Championship for D5 was last week.  Liberty won a tough physical game against the Lindsay Cardinals.  This weeks game will be a walk in the park for the Mighty Green Machine.  I don't see Mendota being able to come close to handling Liberty this week.

Two years in a row the Liberty Madera vs Lindsay game pitted the best in D5 against each other in the Semi Finals but the CIF has blinders on, so be it.  Just like last year Liberty will not be challenged in the Finals.

Yes Mendota I just dissed you, (Or put you on blast) LOL :)-

The top 4 seeds are in and all 4 have 9-1 Records.  Doesn't matter if we agree on the seedings or not the best is what is left.

Liberty Madera vs Lindsay @ Liberty
A rematch of last years semi final match up. Lindsay led at the half but couldn't hold on for the win.
This game reminds me of the gladiators last man standing type of game. Will it be Lindsay's turn and be able to take out  Mighty Liberty.

Mendota vs Firebaugh @ Mendota
A rematch of the regular season finale for these teams.  WOW Mendota handled Shafter last week.  How is Firebaugh going to get over the mental feeling of just recently getting pounded by Mendota.

No prediction from me this week.  My predictions have been so far off during these playoff's I think I will just keep them to myself.  I will kick back and just watch the fireworks this week.  For my Cardinals to win the grand prize we will need to become ROAD WARRIORS !!!!

Anyone know what the State single game receiving record is ?  Last week Gavin Mann from Lindsay had 335 receiving yards, just curious.

All things being pretty much fairly even what would be the number one thing you would look at for a new coach applying for a head coaches job that you think would set them apart from the others.

Coaches our 2010 Passing tournament featured some really good competition with teams
competing from Clovis, Redwood, Mt. Whitney, Porterville, Monache, Delano, Granite Hills,
Woodlake, Lindsay, Orosi, Orange Cove, Farmersville, Highland, Strathmore, Golden West,
Coalinga, Mira Monte, Washington Union, Arvin and Kingsburg. For 2011 we are expecting
the same quality of competition. I hope you will join us at our state of the art facility with all
games being played on turf fields. This is a great opportunity to face some really talented teams
early in the year and to kick off your summer programs. I am excited that Lindsay High School
will be hosting one of the first passing tournaments of the 2011 football year. Please register
early as there are limited slots available. We continue to make changes as needed to improve the
quality of our event and to ensure each team has an enjoyable but competitive experience
