That was against a MO team that was hyped with homecoming and a ridiculous rap song. Credit to them to come out tough but TU played a broken down team that had given up by that point. Plus TW was up on porterville 35-0 at half while TU was only up 28-14. You can nitpick every game but all that goes out the window in a rivalry game.

TU's first two scores against MO were runs by the QB after nothing was open on the throw......the defense did everything they could to cover all those playmakers......TW won't fair much better defending them.....jmo.

The question is going to come down to the TW offense vs. that horrible TU defense...  can TW keep up with the scoring? TW will defend TU better than anyone else on the schedule has.

It's hard to tell how good either of these teams are because they haven't played anyone beside El Diamante (the West Yosemite League is way down this year) and Dinuba really exposed the TU defense.

There are a lot of common opponents to make comparisons. Dinuba isn't one of them.

Common opponents:

Redwood: TW-14-7 TU-42-7
El D: TW-28-0 TU-48-7
MW: TW-63-28 TU-60-7
Delano: TW-48-0 TU-56-10
Porterville: TW-51-0 TU-56-22
Mission Oak: TW-54-3 TU-62-0
Monache: TW-57-6 TU-69-10

TW scoring differential: 315-37 (outscored common opponents by 278 points)
TU scoring differential: 393-63 (outscored common opponents by 330 points)

Calling TU's defense "horrible" discounts those WYL contests where TU actually held those common opponents to FEWER points than TW did (TW gave up 35, TU gave up 21).

The MW game TW turned the ball over a few times and put the defense in a difficult situations. I guess will find out answers in just a bit over 24 hours, should be good

True.....but every game has it's share of difficult situations......TU's offense creates very difficult situations for the defenses it faces......No one they've faced has had an aswer for it.....except to try and keep up!! And that hasn't worked yet! Should be a good one! If you didn't get a ticket, catch it on the CW59 tomorrow night at 6:30! Get your popcorn ready!!

I know that statistically that TU's defense is far from horrible, I just think they haven't faced very good offenses. I think this is a much closer game than anyone thinks it will be.  If TW can continue to run the ball and keep the TU offense off of the field and then minimize the big plays, I think they have a shot.

Since Dinuba was brought up, I checked to see if they had any games with common opponents. It seems they shut out both Mission Oak AND Porterville. I'm thinking maybe they have a pretty good defense........that TU scored 69 points on......

Agree...  TW needs to control the pace of the game..

You need to dive deeper than just that. Mission Oak is 0-9 and averaging around 8 pts. a game and Porterville is 3-5 and not much better at 14 a game. Hardly two teams you can rate the quality of a defense on.

True.....winless MO also held TW to 13 points in the first half.........what does THAT say about TW? TU dropped 49 on MO in the first half........and could've won by 100 but called off the dogs....

It says TW knows how to finish a game, I'm pretty sure the final was 54-3. It's a no duh that TU has a potent offense and TW's isn't that bad. Like I've said before the stats in the defensive category favor TW.

League Play TW has given up 9 total pts. in 4 games where as TU has given up 42.

Actually, I think it says more about TW's interest in running up the score so that the scores are comparable.......JMO.....and if you go back to my post with all the common opponents you'll see that the total difference in points allowed is 26 in favor of TW while the total difference in points scored is 78 in favor of TU. That's a 52 point difference in favor of TU. At the end of the day, they gotta line up and play, we can all agree on that! I just don't see TW having enough horses to hold down that tribe......and I think it's going to be a 3 score difference at the end of the day in favor of TU.....I'm looking forward to an exciting game!!

I think the primary difference between the two schools is that TW understands that defense and running the ball is important. Bennett just wants the defense to get off the field (anyway they can) so he gets to call some more plays.

Can't blame him for wanting to play with all those toys! He's got a LOT of weapons right now!! LOL!!

Other than the Dinuba game, I don't think Allen has seen a 4th quarter.  TW seems to keep their starters in the whole game.

Good thing this game is on 59 tonight. I'm getting caught up on the hype of this thread.

Kazmeir Allen = 545 all purpose yards and 7 total TD's. Against a defense that only gave up 58 points in the previous 9 games. Whoa

WOW!! What a game!! No one saw that coming!! Oh, wait....."someone" did....

I've seen both up close.......3 score difference.....TU......JMO.......

Jazz

My first time seeing either team play. That game looked like an AAU basketball game. There was a lot of fast break scoring on offense and no defense.  It was fun to watch though. Allen is lightning fast!
