Porterville loses football game to a poor team due to turn overs at the goal line and bad execution. Porterville turned the ball over six or seven times. With none of its other offensive fire power they went to sophomore wide receiver Eduardo Nevarez #87 who caught a 42 yard touchdown pass to take a 21-14 lead. That would be the last score for Porterville and the last pass to #87 Nevarez who by the way runs a 4.6-40 and can easily get seperation from even the best cornerbacks.

Wow, and double Wow.

Now next weeks game with Delano will be a huge game for both schools.
Delano has come out of nowhere, and has  set it self up for a possible solid seed in the playoffs.
If you look at all these 2 schools common opponents, the spreads are nearly identical.

This will be the game of the week.

I don't think you should cheapen Granite Hills win over Porterville by saying Porterville lost to a poor team.  Come Friday nights, either you execute and win or lose because you did not take care of business.  GH is up this year and they have shown yearly progress.  GH needed to play extremely well to win and they got the job done.  They  earned their win and should be congratulated, not "oh yeah, they won because we made too many mistakes."  Bottom line: Granite Hills got the W and Porterville got the L!

Well they did lose to a poor team, I mean look at what they've done against good opponents like mission oak which porterville shut down. So yea I can't go and say they lost to a great team. Either way, Porterville never should have lost to a team like that. Although their ranking in D3 will suffer a lot from the loss, Porterville will show up to play in the play offs with a fully loaded team. Not one missing all of its seniors like it was last night against granite.

Thanks for the report Eduardo. :d:

What happened to their seniors? Or their firepower?

theMHSguy

The firepower got suspended but Eduardo won't tell us why.

Yup, I wouldn't put too much into this loss. This team is dangerous.
Coach- " So they're gonna let you run the ball this year huh."

With the loss to GH, Porterville is no longer a top 5 seed, IMO.  I do not care about circumstances, they didn't get it done.  Porterville will have no more than one guaranteed home playoff game.  This loss hurts their quest for a VC BIG TIME!

Porterville had 8 starters suspended for an alcohol related incident. Especially disappointing since 2 years ago they permanently lost a teammate due to alcohol. Maybe the loss will help to make a valuable life lesson and they will become better young men because of it. Congratulations to Granite also, they played very well and rose to the occasion. They will make some noise in the DV playoffs.

Aren't alcohol related issues a 20 day suspension?

I agree porterville drops in the seedings, but this also hurts tu in their quest for a top 4 seed in div 1 with port losing to gh and el d looking at two win season they don't have any quality wins now. Didn't mean to get off subject

Cowboys39

They got caught at a party but they were not drinking. Which is against team rules

talkfootball

At a party, but NOT drinking....lmao :)- come on high school kids not drinking at a high school party with alcohol?  Come on....lol. that should be more than a suspension,  it should be off the team. But wait they were 8 starters NOT bench warmers...that's why...huh?

If this is outside of school events hours, this is completely dependent on the policy of the school and/or district.

In school hours, it's a suspension from school, but policies on length, etc. vary there as well.

KHSD it is the rest of the school year ... no activities! Period! Same for smoking!

Think fuse has the same policy. Out for the year

lollygagger

Agreed, unfortunately it will and should cost them in seeding.  Even with 8 starters out you would think they could still beat GH, no disrespect to them but it is what it is.  I hope the other kids on the team are letting those 8 know how they feel about their decision.  Pville will be fine, they are still a big contender for the title but now their road will be a lot tougher!

Yea Porterville should have definitely won that game. They fumbled the ball inside the granite 5 yard line 3 times which would have given them a 3 touchdown lead and on top of that they had 2 interceptions to go along with another fumble. When you really look into it though, the Porterville team that played last night was comprised of mainly juniors and sophomores with 3 seniors on the team i believe. And two of the seniors playing were banged up. It was really turnovers that killed them, they would have scored in the 50s if not for all the turnovers.

While you're making excuses for the loss last night, you forgot to mention the 8 starters who didn't play, the grass was 6" tall, the snack bar ran out of popcorn, the Moon's lunar phase was a Waning Crescent last night (basic astronomy facts), the National Anthem didn't start on time, well you get picture.....right?
