Can a 1 dimensional team win a valley championship?

TeddyKGB

yes. Clovis East won running the Double Wing and BHS won the D1 title and didn't throw 1 pass in the championship game. I believe the 1 dimensional team better have a rock solid Defense if they are 1 dimensional.

Coach Scudder

Hey 49ers26,

Porterville is not one dimensional, however, we have been run heavy so far this early part of the season.  Your brother is our best receiver and cover guy.  When we need to pass, he will continue to be our first target.  You should be happy that your brother is on an undefeated team and has contributed GREATLY to help get us there.  Instead of questioning why he doesn't get the ball more, why not celebrate the fact that he is a GREAT player/kid on a good football team?

TeddyKGB

Wait a minute, I didn't know that this thread was started as a passive-aggressive attempt to bash a coaching staff because someone feels their relative isn't being showcased enough or getting the ball enough. If that's the case as Scudder is saying 49ers you have no clue as to what it takes to win football games. Scudder ignor that bonehead and keep doing what your doing good luck with the rest of your season!

Football Freak, Our coaching staff has put in many hours to uphold the Coalinga traditions set by those before us. I believe that Carlos McCaleb was an outstanding coach along with Eric Jensen, Pooh Watson, Ryan Reed and Kent Nash. I had the honor of coaching with those guys last year as they opted  to spend more time with their families and outdoors activities after 3 years at the helm.
I hired Kent Nash as defensive coordinator and Pooh Watson as a linebackers coach from that staff along former Coalinga alums Kale Bordeau and Jake Zubiri while Gary Howard moved up to the College.    I normally don't post in season because I enjoy the the grind but come on! after a hard fought game with a group of young players and a new developing staff that works their A double snakes's off I think that it is premature to label their efforts after a single contest that you heard about.

I invite you to come to practice and see the work our guys are putting in and the hours of conditioning the boys are putting in to emerge from the shadows of the Alvarado Era in Coalinga. After all, we all worked hard to have a 9-3 season last year with only six returning players and knowing that each year is a different dynamic of players and coaching philosophy to match talent.    Let our staff and the boys find their stride and I hope that you see their character shine to make Coalinga proud as winners in the classroom, better men,  and on the field in a program we are building to include all levels of CHS football.

As for me, you can question my efforts all you want. After twenty three years of coaching I have found that criticism goes with the territory and all we can do is to work harder to achieve our goals and pass on those traits to the kids as lifelong lessons.

Our kids are going to rise, PM me if you would like to take me up on my offer. Our staff kids coached and played hard and hit very well but made a few mistakes in a close game, so cheer them on rather then condemn them!!!
Respectfully

Coach V

Why do they use costly new sterile needles to give a lethal injection? Really. Just save the same friggin' needle.

Division IV Junkie

This is the best "you got busted" post of the year so far!

Hope the kid playing isn't as selfish as the poster!
I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!

Just goes to show, you can score 60 points a game and someone in the stands is still pissed off.

I wonder what 49ers26 was going to do with all the "expected" responses he was going to receive.  Were you going to start a poll on this thread and then gather up your data and report out to coach Scudder & the AD about why a supposedly one dimensional offense can't win a championship??  C'Mon Man!!!! lol  Plain and simple is that "better" wins.  Ride your horses as far as they will take you.  I guarantee you without that fabulous running game that the passing game alone isn't going to win you a league title much less a valley championship. You can better support your team by buying a home game ticket and dropping a 20 spot at the concession stands. Quit trying to do the coach's job, this ain't pop warner. So zip it and sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!

Interesting responses to the OP. So now  no one can ask a question...no matter how pointed?

I don't know the kid, but as a former coach I would have found a better way to get my message to the poster than calling him out on a supposed anonymous message board. Sorry Coach, IMO, Bad form.  You have better things to do during the season than worrying about naysayers.

I personally don't care if he has an axe to grind.  Hell we all do. When I was coaching I used to get criticized for not throwing the ball more.  I lived by Woody Hayes motto "three things can happen on a pass play and two of them are bad".

So to tag onto Teddys reply...yes you can, but you better have a great "D"

Your opinion may vary

I don't have a problem with the question, no matter how loaded it was.  I would have preferred that he come talk to me personally instead of posting here.  I simply gave him an answer he didn't want or expect.

TeddyKGB

Scudder, my personal opinion only, you don't have to justify what you're doing to a fan, sibling, friend or relative of a player. Even if he did come and talk to you, he would never accept the answer(s) you gave him. Keep doing what you're doing, it's obvious from what you are doing and what your predecessor did you guys want to build a program not highlight one kid for one season. Good Luck with the rest of your season.

Thanks Teddy,

This issue is NOT going to change what we do here at PHS.  With the number of quality players we have, the hard part/blessing is spreading the ball around.  Besides, the only person I have to justify myself to is my wife!! :shy:

erstwhile

Its always easier to "coach" from the stands. No one second guesses you, and you don't have to deal with people who think you're impeding their chlld's path to D1 or the NFL.  Coach, do what you do, its your team to coach. Let the chips fall where they may.
