Per Hanford Sentinel, no live TV coverage for Porterville-Hanford game.

Hanford High's Sept. 13 game against Porterville at the Neighbor Bowl will not be shown live on Comcast Hometown Network, a Comcast spokesman said Tuesday.  The game will instead be shown on a delayed basis Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.  The decision not to broadcast the game live was made after the Central Section office requested a rights fee, the spokesman said.

Are you kidding me...   :d:

The Bee just reported the Central Section CIF had record profits last season too....

I wonder if Cody has any thought of going elsewhere....  I know a USC education is worth a lot of $$$.... but if he wants to play on Saturdays, transferring has to be crossing his mind.

I think a lot of us these days, would like to leave CA... Especially, if we could maintain a decent living.   With that... where would you like to live outside of CA, and why?

Basketball / Smaller schools paying the price...
February 18, 2012, 05:54:19 PM
Pretty good article by Boogaard about the CIF's version of equality.  Corcoran's girls basketball team, and even Hanford's, have paid a huge price all in the name of (supposed) equality.  Crichlow claims the current system has drawn very few complaints...  :huh:  Who is he talking to then, as most of the opinions Ive seen or heard are against it.  Crichlow also states the current system has created stories that had no chance of being written otherwise...  Really, well what about all those stories that never were, because of the current rob Peter to pay Paul system, where big schools beat up on much smaller ones to claim some sort of championship?  The current system goes against the whole competitive nature of sports, in my opinion.

Central Section Football / Academic eligibility criteria
September 15, 2011, 08:56:23 AM
Ive been wondering for some time, do all the schools follow the same criteria when it comes to eligibility?  When I was in school (long ago) there were four grading periods a year that determined a students athletic eligibility. Now, there are six periods (at Hanford Unified at least) and citizenship marks are included as well.  Im just curious, if all school districts follow the same guidelines?

Ex-FSU Bulldog DB Vincent Mays... AKA rapper V-Mayz, has a featured song on Kenny Chesney's Boys of Fall football documentary, which Kenny himself requested (per the documentary) for the film.   Check out the song's youtube video, and see how many former local high school and Bulldog players you can spot in it... pretty cool stuff...

JV and Youth Football / Divisions
October 13, 2006, 12:59:22 PM
Im glad to see this forum added...  Now I can ask a question Ive been wondering about for some time.  What are the age and weight limits of your youth football leagues.  I coach in the All Valley Youth Football League ( http://eteamz.active.com/avyfl/index.cfm?), and the current limits are as follows;

Pee-Wees:  Ages 7 to 10 yrs old,  weight limit 119 (without pads)
Juniors: Ages 11 & 12 yrs old, weight limit 140 pds  (10 yr old over 118 can move up)
Seniors: Ages 13 & 14 yrs old, weight limit 190 pds (12 yr olds over 140 can move up)

They are talking about moving the Junior weight limit up to 150 pds.  I would also like to see them move the bottom age up to 8 yrs old, because with my experience 7 is just too young.  Does this match up with the rest of the leagues?   :ref:
