Central Section Football / Re: Future of the TRAC
May 09, 2024, 10:00:01 AM
They've spent a lot of money on TRAC 6 marketing and swag. They'll boot Central and recruit the rest of the Section.  In 10 years minimum their non-league games will be against national powers with names beginning with words like "Saint" and "Archbishop" or ending with "Prep".

Jay Preuss is always lurking in the deep water off the shores of Clovis.

I also always thought Ed Yockey did a great job at Mount Whitney.  I believe he was recently let go as a coach.

Quote from: BallGuy on April 30, 2024, 10:00:38 PMA bit out of the loop here. Is it for sure Fontes won't stick around for more years? Coaching that program is hard, Glaus had an uphill battle. I have a ton of questions too. Fontes will right the ship, he rocks as a coach. My questions are more along the lines of Glaus. I don't know him, hell I'm not even coaching anymore, but just seems weird to me. Was he that much of a weasel? If so, why would he even want to coach? Just bring your kid to the valley and get on as an assistant. Just seems like such an odd situation.

The plan going forward is for Fontes to stick around past this season but not "long term"  Buchanan can't afford to lose any more young talent so stability(or the illusion of stability) is important.  They have got to figure out how to keep their home grown players because they are no longer the transfer school of choice.

Maybe in the fine print it says 13-0 vs Co-Ed Schools?  13-0 vs schools south of Kerman?

This is ridiculous on a level greater than CE baseball omitting the "D-2" from their "Valley Championship" signage.

Quote from: BallGuy on April 18, 2024, 12:02:42 PMLol the dude already had a full family move to get him into the Buchanan boundaries from Central

Somebody needs to tell this kid's family they gotta at least put some furniture in the rental home and park a Range Rover out front.  Also, leaving a couple lights on and ordering Doordash a couple nights a week is a good idea too.  Somebody needs to publish a transfer portal manual......

Quote from: Crusader123 on April 18, 2024, 09:00:13 AMI was told a player is allegedly under CIF investigation due to false information regarding paperwork.

I've heard nothing like that.  But, if there is an investigation, it probably started after Deep walked it off or Becerra shoved ve. Buchanan, lol.  My guess, however,  is there is nothing to this rumor.....

Always "alleged" news coming out of Clovis schools.  I've heard nothing coming out of CHS.  Gonna need a little more info to comment on this.......

Quote from: Cristobal on April 11, 2024, 10:40:26 AMFrom Hughes to Arax doesn't seem like a perfect fit (new school/old school) but i'm excited to see it and good luck!

I'm also excited to see what lame-ass nickname Bullard uses for its offense, "Fig Garden Airlines" is my best guess.

"Knight Flight", lol

Quote from: Timmy Winn on March 27, 2024, 11:14:07 PMWeird game tonight. CHS just ran out of pitching and the game fell apart. Johnson looked good. He works at really quick pace and controlled the tempo of the game. I was behind home plate and saw that he topped out at 80. Lots of strikes, attacks the zone. Effective pitcher. Ward looked fine but was on the ropes often and threw a ton of pitches early. Clovis had every bad break go against them, but CN grinded at bats and threw more strikes and generally executed better. Each team had a similar amount of loud contact. Each also has some room to improve defensively, although CN LF...I think skinner made an incredible throw from medium deep left and cut a cougar down at the plate by several steps. Impressive throw. Clovis' baserunner missed an opportunity to take third that cost them a run. Clovis also failed to execute on bunts the few times they were called for (f bunting by the way).
I'd love to see these teams go at it with fresh arms. Tonight was fun but I don't think it means CN is better than CHS. But I do think these two teams are pulling away from the crowd as the two best teams in the TRAC.

I'm gonna give a slight edge to CN in a 3 game series.  Without Georges, CN seems to have the edge on the bump in games 2 and 3.  Clovis must have left their bats in Vegas.  They did not hit a lick in this tourney.  Still a toss up, but agree that these two teams are a cut above the rest of the TRAC..

Quote from: Timmy Winn on March 26, 2024, 12:21:47 AMThose are all big wins for the Clovis schools. This is shaping up to be one of the most interesting years in the TRAC in a while. You've got Buchanan struggling to find its footing with the new coach. Loads of transfers...mid season transfers. Clovis has been the biggest benefit in the TRAC of talent from the portal. Clovis seems to have lost a huge arm, but there is so much depth with all the transfers. Looks like there are some guys stepping up and more on the way. Clovis North looks solid and they've found a lineup that produces and they're settling into a rotation. I worry about them playing defense. Clovis West has too much talent to not compete. They've looked real good the last 4 or 5 games. TP pitching well and hitting, DeCanio can hit too...Plascencia seems like a player. Clovis East has had a few impressive wins over good teams. I love the way they play. I'm still leaning CHS; the talent that they have had come over from Buchanan is crazy (chohan, becerra and barsotti). Barsotti hasn't even entered the equation yet either. So many hitters and a handful of good to great pitchers. Clovis North is narrowing the gap, and I can see a scenario where CN continues to hit and a few of the young SPs step up (which they have already) they are within striking range of the cougars. I think CW and CE play spoiler to CHS and CN and Buchanan is a non factor in Glaus Year 1. It'll be interesting to see if Glaus can get players to transfer INTO Buchanan.

Barsotti will not be eligible to play this season.  Must have wanted out of Buchanan real bad to be willing to sit.

Quote from: Timmy Winn on March 16, 2024, 10:03:33 AMThe GOP is good with anything that protects their gun rights, keeps abortion illegal, keeps our borders closed, keeps religion at the forefront and generally keeps us from advancing past what was going on in the 1950's. They will welcome a dictatorship to own the libtards. That is really what is on the ballot in November.

I tend to vote Republican in most elections and I only agree with 2 of those, lol.

Quote from: CWClassof2007 on March 15, 2024, 02:59:06 AMI still think they'll finish 3rd or 4th in the TRAC.

I can see that.  Not sure how good CE is but I'll leave them in the 3 spot for now.  I still like Clovis and CN as the 1-2 but I'm hearing Clovis' pitching staff has recently been dealt a significant blow and I'm not sure they have the depth to overcome it.  Sad news if true.

Buchanan, currently 3-6, has an uphill battle to finish .500.  They may very well lose double digit games in league play.  The field, however, looks great.  The product on the field......not so much.  Tough season so far at "The House of Glaus".

"The old saying "when in Rome, do as the Romans do".... would be taken to heart by many a school in the section in an attempt to dethrone the "Emerald City".  And while...there have been droughts (mostly mini droughts)...The Clovis Unified Way has endured all comers and remains the standard of athletic excellence to this day.  And...still standing at the top of a very large pile of Central Section Plaques are the Clovis West Golden Eagles.  No on has won more than CW!"

This is the reason for the hatred.  Clovis Unified established a system for success, and as the city of Clovis grew, the success of the schools began to define(in a sense) the city.  In essence they became each other.  Other districts have attempted to emulate individual elemets of the "system", but without the history of the town being somewhat intertwined with the success of its school athletic programs; failure is the result.  The constant attempts and constant failures begat the envy, which spawns the hatred......

Watched CW lose to Hanford 3-1 today.  CW is not very good and will not threaten in the TRAC. Clovis, CN, CE the top 3 teams.  On a side note, I'm looking forward to the D-2 quarterfinal battle between CW and Buchanan......

Tough loss for Buchanan today.  Bears showed some guts coming back in the 7th.  Ultimately though they are 2-5, 0 for Bakersfield and 0-4 vs D-1 teams.  Sure, they've only played 7 games, but that is 20 percent of the season.  If they're not pushing the panic button yet, they are definitely holding their hand over it.
