Isnt he playing football at FCC next year?

Congrats Willie!!! Great kid, Great personality. I had the priviledge of having him play on my AAU team for basketball. I know that when we talked last week he has a couple options football wise at 4yr schools (as well as quite a bit of interest on the hardwood as well). He needs to finish up strong in the classroom and if it doesn't work out he will go the JC route.

Wish him the best of luck.

Coaches should have been over there pulling him back and making him shake hands.  Such poor sportsmanship on the players part.  btw, you think this is the first time he's ever done something like this?  Coaches have probably let stuff go in the past or at practice and this is just another example.

you can take the playa up out the hood, but you cant take the hood up out the playa.

Great Game. Sloppy but exciting...

A few things on the walk off. Totally agree, he should have taken it on the chin and had the respect to go through the line.  I know for a fact there are those that are at SJM that were disappointed it happened like that.

As for being allowed to get to get away with this during practice and the past, I can say it does not happen. The big fella is held to the same standard as every other player in the program. Team runs for him (maybe even more) just like they do for anyone else who makes faces/talks back/lack of effort. So throw that out the window.

Lets not forget that  even though he is 6'11...he is still 17-18...he is emotional. Getting taken out on a hard intentional foul (which Armstead showed great respect for coming up and apologizing for after), Bullard students clapping while he is on the ground, and having the chant of "sasquatch" while you are at the foul line.... kids get emotional... he still should have walked the line, i agree. He lost his composure down the stretch, I sure as hell didn't make the best decisions at 17. But lets take a step back and not attack the young man.

From what I've been told Verhoeven isn't being pursued by Stanford any more...has progressed enough in the off season and they are looking for continued improvement year after year!

I feel sorry for the kid not much help at CVC this year...they will struggle vs teams that pressure full court not much guard help!

I'll make sure I'll ask Stanford what they are doing at his house then when they are here in 2 weeks on their at home visit...or maybe we will have Grant ask why they have him on campus for his official visit the 2nd week of October...either way we will get to the bottom of this for you WC!!!

Why not be that school? It has worked for many schools.  The fact is if we get a coach that comes in here and turns it around he will be gone in a few years anyway.  We won't find a Pat Hill for bball that sticks around for 15 years, or Batesole who I see sticking around for a while.  Let's be that school.
and I agree with you lollygagger. I'm ok with it. Especially with our lack of success the last few years. See if we can make that jump to the next level and ride it out!

Dunlap has said he will consider the Fresno State job.....rumors are that he will be interviewed. That would be a great hire, imo the best choice I just wasnt sure he would be interested.......

he had made it quite known to a few coaches out here in California that he thinks this is a good job. I agree with you, I would be excited about that one, especially with the turn around he is helping with at St. John's with Lavin and Keady. My only worry with Dunlap is that with his travel record from school to school...this job would just be a step for him to the next big one...does that factor in or do you say to hell with it we will take the chance?

So which is it?  Is Andy making selections or is it voted on?

Andy makes the final decision. From the games he watches and the calls he makes to coaches, he puts together the best group he can.

I think what really hurt the Bullard boys is that they did so well as a group, none really stood out on an individual level. That being said, you could then argue for Tony for coach of the year. JMO

No Bozeman. I would like Theus or Tinkle

I thought the same thing with Bozeman, but he had some serious supporters (former G-town Coach John Thompson to name 1). I know its unfair but whenever I think of Bozeman I can't get past what he did at Cal.

I would like to see if FSU would contact Coach Williams from UCSB...he has built a nice program, been to the tournament the last 2 yrs, and recruits talent above the conference he is in. Could be interesting...

ET...very valid point and it needs to be brought to the commitee's attention that Tinkle is just not going to work just based on the name alone!

I am by no means a Cleveland or Walberg homer, but this is our answer? Give Steve credit he cleaned up the program. This job is more attractive then it was when he took it. If this is true, it's just another safe pick. So Boeh's trading in clevelands par .500 overall record for a guy with a winning % of .591 in the Big Sky??? And we as a fan base are suppose to get excited about this? Come on! If Boeh is really trying to get out of Fresno (7 different AD job interviews since being here/1 of them 1 month in to the job) like so many think...he may sign his walking papers with this one

Sidenote: Andy Katz reported on ESPN its down to 3: Theus, Tinkle, and Todd Bozeman...what do you guys think of those 3?

He is talking about the 96 Valley Championship game v. Hanford at Fresno City College.

It was really missed free throws by Hanford that sealed the deal.

They beat CW in the Semi's.

Just putting this back towards the top. It is this Sunday. Hope to see as many kids as we can get out there! Jeremy does an amazing job! Drop me a note if you have any questions.

You do not need to sign up ahead of time.
Have players bring their own basketballs
It is for Boys and Girls!

Hope to see you out there!

Good Luck in Playoffs!

so would he be talking more as an ambassador to the valley, or as a great sjm coach?
[/quote

Mr "Amazing",

I sat here quietly and let you take your shots at me and this will be my only response to this. Since you played for us at sjm, i'm pretty sure you know why I'm going to be on.  I'm going on to discuss organized chaos. The fact that i have seen quite a few games up and down the valley throughout the year does help in my knowledge of the high school game. so if nick and the guys ask i think i may know a i think or two mr. amazin.

Sincerely,

I could be wrong, but I think WC has it right and that the  TRAC sets there All League up with 1 MVP and 5 1st Teamers.

MVP-Denzel Johnson

1st Teamers:

Kevin Bailey: Kid is a stud
Alex Fertig: averaging over 21 a game.
Kory Anderson: double double machine
Charlie Thompson(CW runs away with the league, has to have 2 on here and he was 2nd team All League last yr in front of Johnson)
Ben Huffman or Ethan Lennox: only worry is if they counter each other out in the voting

I do think LJ has head a hellueva yr especially for the situation he has been put in, but its tough to put a Central player on 1st team when they could be 1-9, 3-7 at best and last in the league.

You guys need to get outside of Fresno County once in a while.

Introducing Wil Nelson of Mt. Whitney.  I know he gets points taken away becaue he doesnt play in the TRAC or from Bullard, but this kid is 6'5 with some serious hops.  Tip in dunks, fast breaks, ally oops he had done it all this year.  And only a junior.

Also Rayshawn Espiritio of Hanford West High School is almost averaging 1 bang a year and had a great dunk in the Hanford v. Hanford West game that was a game changer.

In a year of not that many high flyers in the valley, go check out these to kids.

There is a nasty pic of Will dunking on a poor kid from Lemoore flooting out there on the internet somewhere. Saw it about a month ago. If I can find it I will post it
