Big Skin I didn't forget you. Others maybe. ????

Just wanted to thank all of you out there reading this and the following people that make this life we have so great. I've been away for quite awhile for great reasons. I tried to delete my account here and other social media. So before this season starts, I want to thank any of the following. CVHS Preps Admin- Big Skin, Diesel and many more. I'm sorry I don't know your names. My name is Jeff. I'm a Shafter High graduate that did work for Centennial, Garces, and BCHS. Mostly Centennial which is why the goldenhawksfootball name. I like all the schools, some more than others. But really all of them do great work. The coaches- Bryan Nixon, Randy Roberts, Brooke Roberts, Lacey Coppolo, Hernan Santiago, and Jerald Pierucci my beloved cousin who all have blessed me with video work in the past. It was a passion. I have another name on this site highlightvideoguy which is not relevant any longer. All great things must come to an end. High school is something we all re-live through sites like this one. I contributed many discussions on this board, truth be spent too much time on this site. I've had very strong opinions about a lot of issues on this site. Some not so favorable. Maybe some favorable. Who cares?  I have done a really bad job of expressing my gratitude, love of Christ and overall thanks to all for all of the following. Thank you to the Bakersfield Californian which does an outstanding job- Zach Ewing, Louis Amestoy, Trevor Horn, Justin Roberts, and many many more. Thanks to local media- Greg Kerr, Lina Washington, Casey Kiernan, John Triche and all the other camera people, editors that man up. They run and gun every day. Thanks to the Fresno Bee- Andy Boogard. The Pagmeter. Central Valley Sports Report and what Jason Phillips is doing. CentralValleyFootball.com - my memory escapes me of your name. But I remember speaking to you. Great podcasts. Even beyond that- Pep Fernandez. Loved the pep talk segments. Mark Haas doing his comedic segments. I know there are more that I am forgetting. Keep it going strong! All the PA and live announcers. My friend Mark Heffernan. Vance Palm. The CIF and specifically Jim Crichelow. Officials- there are many and we don't know your names. It is a difficult job that these guys do. Let's try to thank them. They will take criticism every game. But they are the ones doing it so the games can happen. 1 specifically I know is Dennis Matthews who does it every season. He has a tough job to do and thank you all these guys for what they do. Forgive me but I'm sorry if I leave anyone out. Please write your name so we can acknowledge you. Coach Jim White, whom everyone knows from McFarland told me your only as good as the people you are surrounded by. I'm surrounded by so many great men and women. Another thing he told me is you can't have a testimony without a test. Keep testing. Still ringing true! My goal and hope is that I can donate in the future to keep this site going strong. Please be nice to each other. Have a great season. Peace! #41- Hebrews 39-40- 12:1-3. Simply put, let us run the race that's marked out for us. I think an appropriate remark when we see these people would be, "well done good and faithful servants. Well done!"

I don't see David Carr stepping away from his Elite business to coach HS football just because his son is going to be a freshman next year (which I don't know for sure if that is indeed the case).  I can see, however, Darren Carr coming over from BHS and taking the head coaching job at BCHS.  That way, David can be as involved as he wants... Without the huge commitment.  If that happens, then that still could mean that the "fix" was in a while ago.

MW & Hammer if the fix was in long ago, like you mention. Why then, would admin, wait till the end of March to make the switch? This late in the game, you don't allow a coach that was let go, to pursue other options. Coach Pierucci more than likely would have had more options than now, if the situation was handled correctly.

Where you been homey? Did Kenny capture you, duct tape your mouth, hands and feet throw you in the back of his double wide trailer taking you up the 99 just to get you out of Wasco? How's Wasco gonna be next year? Any new transfers so the kids will be exposed to D1 colleges? Is ex NFL'r Aaron Merz gonna take over the program mono e mono BCHS w) Carr? This place is dead lately and thought you could provide us some entertainment from the city of Roses. I miss Valley Rose. Turn the water back on Papa Pump!

QuoteAs far as BCHS goes...Does the fact that David Carr's son is soon to be a freshman there? Carr Elite is already running a youth camp/training business on the BCHS practice field in the evening.

Talk among yourselves.........

David Carr would want to be head coach at BCHS???? Just to coach his son for kicks and giggles???? lol! Good April Fool's joke Coach Hemmer.

Well, it's obvious they don't want outsiders so it's a moot point.
I believe the rest of your post is directed at someone else as I made no mention of marketing.

Oh yes sorry I guess it was Jackie.

Off Topic / Bowe Bergdahl
March 29, 2015, 08:00:06 PM
Surprised no one is talking about this.... So once upon a time the White House honored Bowe Bergdahl by trading 5 terrorists for him. Susan Rice said he served with "honor and distinction." Obama got another photo op, created a huge story. Then last week the Army charged Bergdahl of desertion like everyone said and for misbehavior before the enemy and if convicted could serve life in prison. No mention or statement from Obama, Rice or anyone from the White House. How could this happen when it did? And now how could Obama and his minions hide from it now. To me they look so inept and so comical yet so sad they let 5 terrorist criminals go for a US criminal. WTH? I guess 1 of Obama's goals is to close Guantanamo Bay and he's going to release these cooks 1 way or another. And did anyone notice they never saw a Press Conference with Bowe Bergdahl and the President. If he served with distinction and honor, why was he hidden? What say you?

http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-0329-schindler-bergdahl-20150329-story.html

What a phony! This will make you sick!

https://youtu.be/dm6u4voY44g

Obama says, "as United States Military men and women, we never leave our men and women behind." But yet the very thing he stated, Bergdahl did to his platoon and many platoons that looked for him. They did looking for this kook because he left his own men behind. And Seargent Tahmoressi detained in Mexico, Obama did nothing for him. When he can pick up the phone and call Mexico Prime Minister and get it taken care of.

QuoteGHF, what is considered a "good hire" at BCHS now, or at a KHSD school? It's obvious that expirence and running a good program is not high on the list. Other than Nixion being hired at Liberty and Gass at garces take a look at the last few hires. It's become very evident that the admins within the Greater Bakersfield area want guys that they can manipulate and will do as they are told and will let the inmates run the asylum

Very true Teddy. I guess I am being bit presumptuous in believing a good hire could happen. Odds aren't really that high. Especially this late in the game, the way things were handled, and the dismissal of a well loved & accomplished coach. I meant to say "if" and that is a very big "if." On 1 hand the schools want successful programs and have the best of both worlds. But in any scenario, you can't have this revolving door where the incumbent coach is constantly walking a tight line all the time trying to please everybody, and yet being a conflict with his convictions and staying true to his coaching ways and philosophies. See Coach Jim White of McFarland USA. He did things his way. They weren't always the popular most pc way, but he stayed true to his convictions. And the results are what followed. The proven take charge coach is becoming more of a thing of the past which is sad because politics wins out. That's why you don't see coaches staying in coaching for very long. Steve Denmen and Kevin Snead are an anomaly. Even Ned Permenter.

Teddy.... question for you and anyone else. With the exception of Bakersfield and Liberty, what football programs in Kern County are attractive for outsider coaches? This is not Newport coast here. None of the other schools have proven to be successful for long periods of time. Centennial, Frontier, Stockdale, and even Liberty to an extent have all fallen well short of expectations if you ask me because all have had great opportunities to win rings but for whatever reason have not. So I ask you this, what makes you think these schools should be able to attract decent quality coaches to begin with? And to me, (sorry in advance Roughneck) in spite of recent valley championships I still would lump Ridgeview as an underachieving disappointment because they should've been competing all along at a higher level for the last 4-6 years.

So again MKB why would they want an outsider to come in again? It may be the biggest district in the state but that's beside the point. You mention Marketing??? lol lol haha. Are you serious? That's funny. #1 Rule #1 Motive for every school district is make sure that every student that is enrolled is coming to school every day and #2 rule or motive is that they are providing and ensuring they are in a structured environment that is safe for learning to take place. Beyond that, do you think they care about marketing to get great coaches???? Sports are an after thought. I come from the school of thought of lets build on our successes. Let's show students this is what you can do and be. Let's not just throw money at our problems like some might say we have sold out to with common core. Let' not just use our kids as simply pawns of the system or treat them as juveniles given free room and board to do whatever they please.

QuoteIf they drop to 8-man they will struggle to find games unless they announce quickly. The Central Sierra 8-man league could potentially take them but they might be better in the Southern Section's Coast Valley League w/ Maricopa and Cuyama Valley. Defeats the purpose of joining the CSL.

As I was reading this post I couldn't help but find myself thinking that BCHS is not very far removed from 8 man football. If tuition continues to spike and support wavers, as enrollment goes down, and they don't make a good hire, It's a very real possibility that they could find themselves in a real quandry that they didn't think of prior to the dismissal of a state runner up coach and valley champion.

Quoteobi, you're correct the focus of the school is not football it is, however, Christian values. Isn't Forgivness one of the big things in the Christian faith? I believe we are seeing a case of institutional hypocracy here, should come as no surprise from parochial school. Was there a string of complaints against the coach that finally lead the school to say you aren't reprosenting our institutions values/vision? It doesn't seem like it to me so, where was the forgiving? Or was a big donation check taken into account over forgivness? What about the parents of the kids, why didn't they forgive the coach?

I think the bottom line here is that no job in anything is completely safe. If the 49ers were stupid enough to let Jim Harbaugh go, then nothing we shouldn't be completely shocked. Surprised? Sure.. Given the rise of this program since Doug left. Remember Wasco was sort of the big bad bully in the SSL for years. Until Pierucci got the BCHS kids pumped about about weight room work. That doesn't happen over night. The varsity football roster had just over 30 players and had countless injuries last season. So that makes it paramount for the leaders to step up and shoulder the load. If too many coaches in this town are operating by walking on egg shells we have a much larger problem than institutional hypocracy. It's the microcosm of society in general. Pretty soon no one will want to step up and coach.

What a crock of BS at BCHS.A good hard working coach gets canned because some pansy parents raising little whiny non competitive kids with money get butt hurt because their kids aren't told how wonderful they are. Successful football coaches shape and make men out of their players wins or loss record be damned.

The worst part of it is if the coach doesn't come out and accept it publicly, and lie about how he really feels about weak, spineless administrators their head coaching days are over.

Oh I'm sure they are hearing it and taking flac over it as they should. It is upsetting because most of us that have had hard nosed coaches know it's tough love that's meant to be with us in tough times. Tough people last, tough times do not last. Iron sharpens iron. I believe this decision set this program back a few years.

QuoteI hope they can develop a passing game.

That shouldn't be difficult. The varsity had 0 passing game last year. Anything will be better. The JV team passed quite a bit.

QuoteGHF, like you I'd like to see a tougher nonconference schedule by all the BCS teams, but alas College football is a business and as you well know those cream puffs pay the BCS teams a pretty good amount to draw a crowd...its probablt why the Drillers still allow garces on the schedule

Teddy with this new coach from Servite he'll have the Rams ready up to Servite's level. lol! The sad part is that by the time they are competitive they will petition to move out of the SWYL and into another league and thus goes the cycle. Not quite ready for D1 SWYL but bring on those whipping boys- East, Highland, North, and Foothill. Oh boy we love that league.

QuoteArticle says they offered in January but yesterday he said he's happy to announce his 17th offer from ucla and he has committed.

If it is a verbal, when does he put pen to paper? I never saw UCLA on the radar. I didn't see them offer in January. I went back and looked at the original post and didn't see them. Not to second guess his decision which is a great for him, but you wonder if a school is that late to offer just how much they want him. Or they offer him because everyone else offered. USC was his 1st big time offer. Then, everyone else followed. Just saying...

College and Pros / Valley kids in the NFL Draft
March 15, 2015, 11:36:52 AM
Let's get it started. We have Deontay Greenberry coming out a year early in a loaded wide receiver class. Will that hurt his stock? Is he a 4th round pick? Eric Kendricks, the Hoover product from UCLA looks like a real deal. Scouts have him a late 1st round, 2nd round pick. Then we have Andre Heidari from Stockdale/USC and Matt Darr punter from Frontier/Tennessee. Chances are they will both walk on if they want a try out. It's tough. Just ask Colton Schmidt. Any other local athletes entering the draft?

College and Pros / Re: Demarco to the Eagles
March 15, 2015, 11:07:21 AM
Sorry fellas. I hate it when I report mis-information. Chip has done a whole lot of shake ups and I bet he is not done. I do not think that all these free agents stay with them. I believe he's making a play at Mariotta. He now has assets particularly Demarco. As crazy as it sounds, I think he'd rather have Mariotta over Demarco. Teams know what they are getting with Demarco, the leading rusher a year ago. Teams do not know what they are getting with Mariotta. I do not think so but he could be a flop. But it's a flop the Chip would be willing to risk the leading rusher. What I can't believe is that any team is dumb enough to pick up a 13 million $ salary for an average QB that is injury prone his whole career. Over my head. Stay tuned.

With Mr. Barnes going Pac 12 to UCLA in 2016, this will be good because we lose a few Bako Pac 12 guys after this year- Cody Kessler, Jared Norris, & Cody Temple. But will have the next crop- Barnes with Anthony Mariscal and Kevin Hays. Those Arizona- UCLA matchups will be fun to watch. In 2 years that Texas Tech vs. Iowa State game could be fun with Sheldon Croney running against Grant Bouma. If only Iowa State played Colorado State we could see Croney and Cotton Moya play against Preston Hodges, Colton Foster, and Joey Stuart.

FYI- A great site for college football fans for the very latest information to see who your team is scheduled against, check out fbschedules.com. USC plays Alabama at Texas Stadium in 2016, 1 year after Cody graduates. Sucks for him. But they do finally play Oregon in 2015 along with the stellar schools of Idaho and Arkansas State. I guess the Pac 12 is now following the SEC for cream puff non league games. As Oregon has Georgia State and Eastern Washington along with Michigan State there. UCLA got rid of Texas and has Virgina, BYU, and UNLV. Fresno State has Utah again, with Ole Miss and Abilene Christian. Talk about the haves and have nots. Ole Miss and Abilene Christian. Have those 2 ever been in the same sentence until now? Other interesting notes about Fresno State in 2016 they do want to play Nebraska again. In 2018 they want those mormons- BYU along with drum roll please......Wait for it, wait for it. Incarnate Word. Who? On September 2nd, 2017 something out of this world is happening. Straight from Israel to Fresno State it's Incarnate Word folks.. I've never heard of it. Anybody have any ideas or thoughts on this??? This just in Fresno State is pulling a prank on all of us and it's not even April Fool's Day.
