I'm told the West/Porterville game Thursday has been cancelled. I wasn't told why but assume it was due to the heat and air quality in Porterville...the pier fire in Springville is causing horrible smoke problems in P-ville

"Coaches were there to promote their sport"
I would bet money that never happened. I sat on the board of the Law and Justice Pathway for several years and never saw anything like that. I haven't been on that board for the last 2 years though but I have many friends involved in the Pathway Program and I will check on it. I would be extremely disappointed if that were true.

The way the Pathway program is set up at PUSD it wouldn't be difficult to use it as a recruiting tool but I don't think anyone can seriously point to any one incident of a coach using it as such,,,,in any sport.

Thank you, that's very helpful.

Yes there are Harmony students on Strathmore's football team. All athletes at Harmony play for Strathmore as Harmony has no sports teams or their own.

Question...Does anybody know? Does the CIF CS choose the schools that change divisions or are the schools requesting it. I know some schools have resisted when they were told they were moving down or up but I'm don't think most of these schools requested a change. I'm not in the loop so I could be wrong.

I'm not following the logic of chasing the money on this one. These teams dropped divisions but stayed in the same leagues so the simple change of division won't equal more wins. Using Porterville as the example, they were D3 last year and D4 this year playing the same schedule. Fact is, for most of these teams about 8 of their 10 games are against the same schools they have played for fifty years or more so I don't see how changing the Division will help you at all until playoffs and CIF keeps half the gate at a playoff game so your still not making money.

I do hate seeing these constant changes though and I hate seeing schools in D1 in one sport and D4 in another. I agree they should be placed by school size and leave it alone. If you can't win get better.

I had the same thought. COS would be close to home or FCC would keep him close to his coaches. I imagine Tedford would see high risk and low reward to him playing a year of JUCO though.

Does anybody have any insight into FCC, COS, or Reedley. I hear FCC and COS both have more local players this year but I have no idea who they have or if they will be any good.

Baseball / Congratulations Panthers

Congrats to Coach Mike Hill and the 13th seeded Porterville Panthers for winning the DIII Championship. The first section title in the history of the school (and they have been playing baseball for 112 years there). They had to win their final game of the regular season just to get in to the playoffs, then went on the road to beat 3 higher seeded teams, included #1 Kerman. Yesterday they beat Selma 7-3 in the Championship game....Great Job Guys

I was aware of McDaniel and Perryman, I had no idea Willis could run the ball. Never seen SP play but I heard he was a hell of a Linebacker...didn't know he was an RB too, my bad

I'm not familiar with all of these kids but based on the names I am familiar with, I suspect the West will be throwing the ball while the East will have a ground game. Should be fun to watch.

Who's the QB for the East?

Probably Steventon from Monache...I don't know who else is a quarterback on this roster

Have the rosters been selected for this game yet?

More like "about time!"

Simply an uninformed statement. Few coaches have gotten more out of what talent they have had available to them, and Monache has had very little the last few years. They do, however, have the highest GPA of all teams in Tulare County and possibly the valley due, partially, to the coach having the right priorities...and I am not a Homer, my son plays for their rival but Coach Likewise is a hell of a high school coach

Basketball / Re: EYL Boys BB

I think your pretty much spot on...I would consider PHS the favorites with a lot of returners from last year's team but MO has had the Panthers number for awhile. The wild card in the EYL is always: Who will Delano beat? They won't contend for a title but they will beat somebody that is...You just don't want to be the team playing them the night all those 3s fall.

Undefeated means the same thing it always has...that you won all your games. Nothing more nothing less.
