Congratulations to Kevin Beno for 20 yrs of coaching at El D. Kevin has been the pitching coach at El D since their inception.  He has been a huge part of their success. Kevin has been a part of 3 valley championships and 8 wyl championships. An ultimate teacher and competitor and a truly stand up guy. He's one of the best around.

When have you ever heard that Clovis only has 'average' pitchers? That's what made JP so great, he made average pitchers great and great pitchers dominant. As evidenced by him only having 1 losing season ever while being a head baseball coach.

El D is looking good in D2. Playing good ball right now.

I see Arroyo Grande is undefeated.  Are they that good? And in the right division?

Jacob Gatewood is first round talent no matter what school he went to. The biggest thing for Jacob was doing 3 years of junior high school and graduating high school at 18 instead of 17. And I would say the transfer worked out for him and his family.

1978 Cowhide game Redwood and Mt. Whitney. Mt. Whitney was the overwhelming favorite with one of the greatest high school teams ever from the valley. They were almost upset until this.

Highlights: With 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter, future NFL player Lupe Sanchez picked off a pass from Redwood quarterback Ken Kugler in the end zone to preserve an 18-14 victory and a perfect regular season. On that play, it was the first time in Sanchez's varsity career he was inserted into the game at cornerback.

Why not just a visalia/tulare league? Would be super competitive and create more rivalries.  And much less travel.

I think they have a kid named Benny the Jet who knocks the cover off the ball and a kid named Hamilton 'Ham' Porter who is legendary and calls his shots like Babe Ruth.

Not a chance. I doubt if anyone on those scout teams would even be good enough or mature enough to play rookie ball.

First lesson I learned from the legendary Stanford coach Mark Marquess. "Don't screw up the good ones". IMO I think sometimes travel ball coaches forget about the fundamentals and are too focused on recognition and trophies.

And what happened to Flo Perez? He seemed like a good fit, especially being an alumni.

The guys that know baseball will not get on here to brag about themselves. The most experienced guys I know lay low and would teach and coach for free. "Ain't as good as I once was but once good as i ever was."
