Funny .... I didnt see them at the "tryouts" LOL .... That team is always 90% picked prior to tryouts each year. I doubt they will be at many of the games.

How many young men from the valley area are taken to play on the team?
Who are some of the names?

Yes Head Varsity Baseball Coach Brad Fontes of Central will not be returning next year.

Just throwing this out, but, I wonder if Central is a victim of its own size?

I wonder if each campus had its own athletic program ... where neighbor competed against neighbor....  if there would be greater passion every day and even more kids playing since there would be twice as many spots, and therefore more opportunity for those kids who may not be the natural athletes, but rather natural leaders, to see the field......

Do you sacrifice the D1 status, to develop two winning programs and involve twice as many kids in all sports and activities?  ...     I know this requires a philosophy change that goes well beyond athletics, but at some point it has to occur, otherwise you end up with too many kids without opportunity .....

I agree with you 100%. Central needs to split the 2 schools up let East stay D-1 or go down to D-2 (heaven forbid the AD and or school board members lets that happen Big Egos there). West has the facilities to handle playing most sports in D-3 or D-4 and play in the North or Central Sequoia. There are kids that want to play football and other sports, but they just don't because they are not the so called D-1 college prospect, so they either get cut from the team or don't go out to play any sports which is sad or in my son's case just focus on 1 sport which is also sad, all kids should play more then just 1 sport this is High School have fun... Plus what will happen if and when Central breaks ground in 3-5 years with another High School?
I get the money issue of coaches, equipment, and other things but at what point?
With a student body of close to 4,000 the split would workout best for the kids.

I have watched this young man since the 7th grade and he was asked a question and yes he gave a politically incorrect response. I say oh well he his only a Jr. in high school. He and everyone else is very excited about Coach Garza and the Central Defense, so if an opposing OC needs to pray. I say what is wrong with a little praying in High School Football?  :)

This would of been nice
CMAC

Bullard
Central
Edison
SJM
Sunnyside
WU

That would be nice to see especially to renew the old Central-SJM rivalry along with WU just like the good old day

Congrats to you and your son, he was fun to watch at Central. I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life, and hope to watch him on Saturdays.

At nearly 4,000 students, I sure hope so.

I hope so too, but I have walked on both campuses during school hours and there just seem to be a lot of students. It may be time to split them into 2 different high schools, since there are 3 Jr. High Schools now

My question is that Central West is not mentioned, so is Central West enrollment numbers automatically added to Central East?

Last year lots of people were posting CCJFC scores. We had the scores form El Cap Teyena Rio Vista Sanger Reedley but this year no posting. Does any one know why?

Sorry OLD COACH I use to post El Cap and some Rio Vista scores but my boys are in high school now. If I get a chance to go or hear scores from El Cap, Rio, or Glacier I'll post them. Good Luck with your season.

The school is so large, and there is so much movement in and out, with so many high profile athletes, I think Central has lost its identity and the sense of pride some of their opponents have.  Outside of the school colors and the name, today's Central Grizzlies bear no resemblance to the Central Grizzlies of the past.

I'm not sure it's a problem anyone should expect Casey Quinn to fix.

Inze I couldn't agree with you more on your statements unfortunately Central is to big with to many big egos instead of the close net family we use to be. IMO some of the sports programs need to get rid of that burnt orange color and stick to the original orange and black.
