Quote from: Governor on May 05, 2024, 02:30:58 PMJake Humphrey interviewed originally I was told for the Buchanan High job. He would be a great candidate. Great young coach of East High. Connects with our players well.

I'm going out on a limb here, but i'm guessing they don't hire a coach without head coaching experience if the big leaguer with no head coaching experience didn't work.

Quote from: Governor on April 30, 2024, 09:06:32 AMWas not expecting that. Crazy.

Here is my coaching hotlist for the summer

Pat Where - proven this year why he is the best assistant in the valley. He and Kevin Patrick (aka KP) have them rolling. You make him say no.

Ryan Smith - one of the best around and an alum. Smitty does things the right way and will develop some young sluggers

Shaun Muesborn - Young and energetic SJM high coach. Has the bloodlines to go far. Will be end up being one of the greats here.

Jason Papi - One of the most storied coaches in CA. This one is a no brainer. Make him say no.

Derek Kuhn - He runs a great program and is a young coach. Has Liberty Madera Ranchos High on a roll.

Mitch Karraker - Fresno City College Manager. Home run hire if he wants it. Played at Buchanan High and would be a great fit. Make him say no in person.

Really nice list here Governor.  Some really qualified names, and you didn't even mention the old regime at all.  I could see the Kemps, Seth Moranda and John Gross make their return to Bear Nation. I could also see Tom in an advisory role if Jason D is on staff.

Quote from: Crusader123 on April 15, 2024, 09:46:24 AMI think it's going to be hard for CN to overcome Prieto's injury. They definitely have the depth and attitude to do it, but his value on the mound and leading off is 2nd to none. will be interesting to see how they respond.

Dont be surprised to see the standings look like this by next monday:
Clovis 6-1
CW 6-1
CN 4-2
Central 3-3
Buch 1-5
CE 0-6

I don't think Central beats Buchanan twice.  And after seeing the last 2 Central/CW scores, I'm not sure how Central won one of those games last week.  Like 69 said, the winner of the Clovis/CN series has the inside track to win the TRAC.

Quote from: CWClassof2007 on March 08, 2024, 06:54:21 PMOffense is bad & their defense is sloppy.

I assume the offense will get better with the return of Decaneo.  Plus, they have the best hitting mind west of the Mississippi, in Patt Where.  It's early and many teams are struggling, but yes CW has been disappointing offensively early on.

I'll throw out some names to take over once the job opens up after the season:

1. Pat Wares- one of the top offensive minds in the state. Also, a former head coach at Central and a
   NATIONAL CHAMPION.
2. Storm Chandler- The best 3rd base coach in the valley now that Coach Marsoopian has retired. He
needs to get out of JD's shadow and get his own team.  Top end Batting Practice talent.
3. Kyle Dauer- the homegrown talent certainly will be given a good look.
4. Brad Fontes- assuming his health is good, maybe he returns to his old stomping grounds.
5. Mike Tittle- Current FCC assistant coach is rumored to be the next up and coming head coach.
6. Dominick Tapazian- Just look at what he's done with the Buchanan pitching staff the past 10 years.

Thoughts?

I'd expect Clovis North to make a significant improvement in 2024 after going 6-24 combined the last 2 years in the TRAC. Much of the same cast is back, who are in their 3rd year on varsity squad.

I still see them finishing behind Clovis, Buchanan and CW, but much more competitive, without a doubt.

Not sure who he, is but I recall seeing something like "Bubba's" Rankings not too long ago.  Not sure if he's a member of the media???  He had Clovis #1 and I believe CW or Bullard #2.  The TRAC will be very balanced IMO, with maybe the exception of one school...
Outside of the TRAC in D1, Bullard will be solid as will many of the Bakersfield teams (Liberty, Stockdale, Frontier, Centennial).  Redwood returns a top pitcher as well.

Bakersfield Christian will be tough with its pitching.  Madera will give Bullard a run in the CMAC.  Coach Mooseborn with his academy in place will have Memorial playing at a higher level this year.  Fresno High will go 15-0 in the NYL and be placed high in D2.

Millbrook and Teague should be an option.

Quote from: valleyfootball95 on December 11, 2023, 12:46:55 PMHughes has an incredible resume but would he leave a school that he can recruit at and is respected for this gig?.. the other 2 guys don't have teaching credentials & Sanchez is the HC at his alma mater.. You think they would be the best fit for Bullard? Over a guy who doesn't like CW, has other head coaching /  athletic director experience, has a kid who will be in the system as a QB for the next 2 years & has coached kids playing at the D1 level that come back and support...

not a bad hire at at all IMO

Yes, it is true that the new Bullard coach does have previous head coaching experience.  His career record is 66-75 at Tokay and South Tahoe, which means he won 47% of the time.

Yes, his kid will be the QB for the next 2 years and he will be sure to be the focal point of the offense. I feel terrible for the frosh QB from this year, who will be out of a job and will likely be forced to transfer.

Yes, he's had some guys move on to the D1 level, but that will have zero to do with his success or lack thereof at his new position.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think the CW faithful is all that disappointed to see his departure.

Good luck to the Knights and their new coach.  He has a tough act to follow.

Really looking forward to the Liberty-Frontier game tonight.  I saw Liberty earlier against Buchanan but haven't seen Frontier yet.  I'm expecting a close game and wouldn't be surprised if Frontier pulls it out.  Liberty showed some vulnerability against Buchanan and I could see Malakhi taking advantage.  These teams are playing for the 2 seed, assuming Clovis North wins out.  Can't wait to watch this one in person tonight.

I thought the same thing. When you have that much talent on the roster and you still can't pull it together you've got to look at the coaching. And even the most objective critic would say the way that team has been handled for the past two or three years has been questionable at best and completely idiotic at worst. It'll be a long time before you have that much talent on the offensive side of the ball again. This should've been their year. Instead we talked about an underperforming offense with ZERO running game, a dad in the OC booth calling the shots and disrupting the QB situation so he could get his kid reps and a head coach who allowed it to all go down. In their defense this is probably the best the TRAC has been in a very long time. So even if they make all the right calls they still could have had a disappointing season. But I think the coaches hijacked the season from those kids.

Well said Timmy.  Clovis West has a lot of WR talent, but talent doesn't always translate to wins, especially when you struggle to run the football, drop multiple passes, have most of their "stars" going both ways and an OC who (apparently?) has his own agenda.  That being said, with all the CW "stars" at the WR position, the best WR on the field last night was Braylon Hall and it wasn't close.  If Fresno State was indeed there, I wouldn't be surprised if that young man gets an offer.

Once again Clovis West flips back & forth between the two quarterbacks. I don't think sticking with one would have changed the outcome of this game. It's just insane they've been doing the same thing the last three years. I'm willing to bet it'll change next year when the offensive coordinators son is the one with seniority. Of course they won't have the skills players they've had.

The OC should probably peace out at this point. Clearly he is an issue.

How big of an impact will it make with Sanders out due to suspension? I personally think he is good for at least one touchdown on each side of the ball. I had CE winning before but now i'm think a blowout.

Will definitely impact the game plan to an extent, but CW still has many other weapons.  Losing a player like Sanders hurts but I don't think losing him will turn it into a blowout for East, IMO.

Central Section Football / TRAC Predictions 2.0
September 19, 2023, 10:00:47 AM
Now that we are onto the bye week as we head into TRAC play next week, what are everyone's predictions on how the TRAC will shake out?  I'll take a stab at it:

1.  Clovis North- Clear cut #1 to me at this point.  Ground and pound on offense and a tough defense.  Broncos could very well run the table.

2.  Clovis West- Still has the athletes to give opposing defenses nightmares. Looks like they've settled on one QB, which should have been the case from the beginning.

3. Clovis East- This team easily can be interchangeable with CW, but I think their soft schedule plus the fact they open with Clovis North puts them in an early hole.

4. Central- Coach Biggs will have his team ready to go after tough preseason schedule.

T5. Buchanan/Clovis- This could go either way as both lack superior skill guys.  Both teams have been very competitive thus far though.

All in all, I think it will be an outstanding TRAC season as these teams will beat up on each other each and every week.

I feel bad for Tyler Patrick.  I think he's been the best QB on the roster for 3 years.  It's unfortunate he's always been in a position where he just has to deal with it.  Any other kid has the option to transfer out of a bad situation, but when your dad is the Baseball HC it makes it complicated.  KP is human, he's gotta be pissed.  Kudos to him for not saying anything(as far as I know) that's gotta be hard.  Many of us were brought up to accept coach's decisions and never question them, accept your role, blah, blah, blah.....but it isn't that way any longer.  Parents go OFF when they think their kid is getting screwed, lol.

Perfectly said.  Patrick has thrown for over 3000 yards in his career (maxpreps) and STILL has to look over his shoulder at the OC's son.  From everything I'm hearing, the personal agenda of the play caller, has MANY people upset in Golden Eagle Land (Players, Parents, Administrators).  The rest of the season will be interesting, to say the least.  I hope they get it figured out because it is such a talented group.

I think Patrick has been the clear best QB at CW for a few years. I don't think the HC coach agrees. I don't know what he's watching or if he's watching objectively but his team is underperforming based on the talent that is out there. I think Brown is the problem.

Ultimately, the blame will always fall on the head coach, but my sources say Brown is NOT the problem in handling this QB situation. Read into that as you wish...
