Central Section Football / N/S Rotary Football Game
December 20, 2016, 09:16:40 PM

The 32nd N/S Rotary Football game will be played on June 24th 2017 at Veteran Stadium in Merced.  This is a Saturday.
Kickoff time is at 7:45 p.m. and we hope to have a crowd of around 2000 plus.   The game is used as a fundraiser that highlights and acknowledges the talented students that live in the Central Valley.  The North coach for this years is James Peterson, head coach at Turlock High and South coach is Casey Quinn, head coach at Clovis North High. Last year's final score was 29-7 in favor of the NORTH.  NORTH leads in victories 16 to 15.

The proceeds raised from this premier event have funded a total of 260($1,000.00) scholarships since 1992. Any boy or girl student attending a participating school can apply for these scholarships and several of the All-Stars have earned the additional honor of being a scholarship winner! We had 26 students win $1,000.00 scholarships from the game proceeds last year's game. There are currently 37 Rotary Clubs in the valley that make contributions towards the game.

The game has been played since 1984 and showcases gridiron talent from the Central Valley. The inaugural contest was played at Avenal High School and then was moved to Chowchilla High School in the summer of 1986. In 2012 the game was moved to Veteran Stadium, located in Merced ( a brand new turf field stadium that seats 4000). Student athletes from 62 different high schools have earned the All-Star title since the game's inception. Each year there are 104 players selected to play in the game.

The 32nd N/S Rotary Football Game will have two new schools on each side.  We added Modesto and Beyer HS to the North Team and Bullard and Edison HS to the South Team.

Participants in the game and scholarship program have gone on to become doctors, pharmacists, business managers, teachers, coaches and even professional athletes. There have been a total of six players who have played in the N/S Rotary All-Star Game that have played in the Super Bowl.Face

Nomination forms are out and to be returned by December 30th..... website   rotaryfootball.org          nsrotary.blogspot.com   also on Facebook.............

If you can kick a 40 yard field goal. Then, come  to the  N/S Rotary football game on June 26 at Veterans Stadium in Merced. Buy a program and get a chance to win a $8500 CRUISE.  If you cannot kick it do you know someone that can you can use him to kick it for you as long as he is not kicking for a college now.  All you have to do is buy the program and you have a chance to be drawn as the kicker.

When you say the Rotary game is the little brothers game to the C/C game then why did we have 35 players from the C/C game play in the Rotary game. We raised $26,000.00 and gave 26 students from the Valley  a $1,000.00 scholarship these were given to any boy or girl that applied. We had 62 students apply.  Go to the link and read about this great event.  By the way this was the first bench clearing problem the C/C has had three in their history.  Both games  are vital to the valley and students and are highly organized by hard working people.  Join in we are always looking for help.

What happen at the end was the SOUTH players wheeled a great player from Hilmar High who was injured in Feb. and became paralyzed from the 50 yd. line to the end zone the NORTH joined in and everyone gave high fives and shook hands.  35 of the SOUITH team played in the C/C (51-18) and only 4 players were from the City)-- game with 8 days of practices.  Only 18 players from the NORTH played in the LIONS' game---D-1 players from either side that were scholarship players--none------------rank schools from the SOUTH--Sanger 5 players...Kingsburg 3 players...Central 1 player....Washington 3 players.........Liberty 5 players....one of the best player from the SOUTH quit 2 days before the game SEGURA..........if you would like to become part of the selection committee you are welcome to call me.........in 29 yrs. that is the first problem we have had during the game and the second time we have had the same NORTH coach, will never happen again........the SOUTH leads the series 16 - 13 why is that??  Thank you for your comments,  remember we do this hard work for players..........

Central Section Football / N/S Rotary football game

The was called with the score 35-13 with five minutes to go because of the second bench clearing situation.  But, what we did at end of the game before the two teams shook hands was great and everyone became friends.  Next years game on June 26, 2015 will have some new teams from the SOUTH.  Teams that the committee is thinking about to drop---SELMA, IMMANUEL and MENDOTA.  The reasons are lack of support from players and their Rotary Club.  We are thinking about adding CLOVIS WEST, CLOVIS EAST and EDISON.  This will also balance up the power to complete with the schools in the NORTH, which we still to add 2 schools in the north.

He was told he would be inelgiable if he played in the game by a coach.  That coach is total wrong.  then he said the Utah coaches told him not to play because has a chance to play as a freshman...Edgar is on his way to Utah University.   He told the game director that he really wanted to play so he is on the cover of the game program and poster, then yesterday he didn't show up for the last day of practice, so he is out of the game, he didn't let anyone know until the game director made many calls to find out his status?????????.......We still have three GREAT running backs  HARRISON, BOHANDON, SUAREZ,  so we will not miss him... Honesty should be taught to all players
