Coach Caviglia is retiring at the end of the season. who's up next as FCC head Football Coach? Would be crazy to see a top high school coach take the job. Biggs would be cool.

It has been the rumor for several years that they want Kyle Biggs when Caviglia is done.

has Biggs ever expressed interested in moving into the JUCO ranks?

It certainly is not an apples to apples transition.  My son played at FCC for one year.  Entirely different animal than HS football, dominated by legitimate D1 talent with issues, from bad grades to bad attitudes, mixed in with local kids who are not ready to hang up the cleats.  They are also grown-ass men, not boys.  That FCC team could have hung with Fresno State for a couple of quarters.
My son met guys from all over the country who came to Fresno to get right.  We'd have them over for dinner quite a bit.  About half of them are good productive citizens now.  A couple are in prison, and one is a porn star.

Better question, does coach have a Master's Degree?

not at all... only way I could see a coach going from a situation like Central to Fresno City would be with the aspirations on making the transition into D1

Bakersfield College had a unique situation with a boosters group and strong community support, but outside of that I don't see other juco jobs being appealing.

Folsom HC went to Sac, then Stanford two years later. It happens, but it has to be a special candidate.

COS coach has highschool football background and Reedley has a young coach as well. I'd think local high school coaches with their masters and assistants at FCC, COS, and Reedley would all be applying for that job.
Not sure if Biggs has his masters or not

There are plenty of appealing JuCo jobs in the State of California.....much better programs than Bakersfield JC (at one time Bako JC was the standard).  But, they have been surpassed over the years by.....San Mateo, Butte, CCSF, College of the Canyons, Ventura JC, Fullerton JC, Saddleback JC, Mt SAC, Riverside JC, Cerritos, etc.  The Gade's have a massive (1st class/way too big) facility....but, can't remember the last time they won anything.  Teddy....it wasn't that long ago the Renegade football program was placed on probation.  The Anthill can not remember all the specifics....but I think it had something to do with the football booster club giving illegal benefits.  Do you remember what the deal was?

yes, in 2013 there were "self reported" violations (translation...someone got pissed off and complained) for giving free meals (and maybe some housing but I can't remember). They had playoff victories and their state title revoked for it and were put on probation for a 2-3 years.

The Anthill as usual is correct, the Gades are now a door mat and have faded into mediocrity. I believe it was 2014-15 that the Gades football team was on probation. That was because players were being fed after games and it was deemed an unfair advantage, that and there was a "levee" up there that made a stink because the football team had a booster club made up of alumni and they didn't share the money with the rest of the teams. What really hurt the Gades was when the school tore down the dorms. The reality is why would a kid want to come live in Bakersfield when he can go to Ventura, San Diego or Orange County... we are going to have to get the old Taft College-Al Baldock recruitment  play (check) book out and get some talent here.

I can assure you a high school coach will NOT be getting that job at FCC!!! 6 figure job..Like most on here said, Its not high school football. FCC does not have problem kids, that is the 1990s image of JUCC football, Its night and day difference. FCC has some of the top talent from around the country and they grab guys from the portal. In college football.. Recruiting is 90% of the job, " you gotta recruit and get guys recruited,Double edge sword" In the office at FCC everyone is excellent when it comes to Xs and Os. The big question is....can you recruit. and how do you continue to have a strong Grey shirt/Red shirt program.
For this job you must have a combination of D1 and Jucc experience with a Masters Degree and be ready to put in 28hrs a day.....In college football, there is an old school saying..There are only two types of football wives...Great football wives and ex football wives, no in between.. One has to be ready to spend a lot less time with the family and be willing to miss your kids Saturday youth games. FCC has a big game against COS in a couple weeks, Everyone come see Tony C in his last Home game. That man has the most wins in JC in the country with well over 200. Legendary status.

I believe some are being built or have just finished being built. East of the Stadium

That is correct, dorms are being built not sure if they are completed yet. The put a ton of money upgrading the facilities there at BC.
Thefootballguy, you are 100% correct I don't believe a high school coach just jumps from hs to the head guy at a college. Recruitment at the JUCO level I imagine is more based on connections than actual traveling to meet the kids. I have no idea what kind of budgets JUCOs have.

Ant, you gotta add COS to that list. New on campus stadium and updated modern locker room. They are a program on the rise. Just put a smack on formerly undefeated Monterey Peninsula as well. Only 1 loss on the season.

Former Bulldog player and assistant under Sweeney,Steve Mooshagian is currently at Ventura College and doing very well. He bounced all over including HC at FCC, OC at Nevada and Pitt, WR coach at Bengals, HC at Sac St. He says his current job is the best he's ever had and wouldn't trade it for anything. He has established as a pretty good pipeline to major D1 programs, which make it all easier and more fun. Being on the beach helps too!

yeah why would anyone want to leave Ventura!

The Anthill has worked for Steve Mooshagian at two different stops and levels.  And, one of the Anthill's off-spring coached 3 years with him at Ventura.  Good guy, great recruiter, very experienced at all levels of football.....high school, JuCo, FCS, D1 and professional. Moose....started his coaching career at Washington Union High School in about 1983.....he was hired by Jim Sweeney at Fresno State (where he became one of the top JuCo recruiters in the nation)....he then became the HC at Fresno City College, before being lured to The University of Nevada as their OC under Chris Ault. He then took the OC job at the University of Pittsburgh.....and moved to the NFL as a WR coach with the Cincinnati Bengals.  After the NFL experience, it was back to the collegiate level as the HC at Sacramento State....then back to the JC level as a HC at Feather River JC in Quincey, CA.  He then took another FCS job as the University of San Diego WR coach (the Anthill believes it was during the Jim Harbaugh time at USD)....and he finally settled at Ventura College, where he has developed a So Cal JuCo powerhouse.  The Anthill and Coach Mooshagian don't talk often....but, the Ant makes sure the Pirates of Ventura get a check every year!  Thinking about traveling to Ventura in a few weeks....just to take in the Ventura/Mt. SAC contest.  Should be a great football game.
And, yes....coaching and working at Ventura College...is football heaven.

Ant would it be fair to say that Mooshagian along with Tarkanian are two of top Armenian coaches to get their start in Fresno?

Just playing the odds, but it's a safe bet that most Armenians who have been successful at anything got their start in Fresno...

Yes, Tark would stand alone at the top.  By the way, The Anthill took Theory of Basketball (PED 200) from Jerry Tarkanian in the Fall of 1973.  So the Anthill is well versed in run-n-gun basketball and pressing man to man defense (and the finer nuances of recruiting).  Moosaghian "Moose" moved about the country coaching at many stops, but is not in Tark's stratosphere (although Moose did win a Nat'l JuCo Coach of the Year Award in 2018).  There have been some other local Armenian coaching legends. that come to mind.  John Toomasian was a basketball coach at Fresno City College in the late 60's and early 70's (won over 400 games).  I think....Donnie Arax is of Armenian decent (pretty damn good HS football coach with a couple Valley titles).  There was a good JC coach down at Pasadena City College in the early 80's named Harvey Hyde (won a state title and became the HC at UNLV). Hyde and Tark were tight buddies (both coached at Pasadena City College).  There was another good Armenian collegiate football coach (Born in Fresno) named Sark Arslanian, who was the HC at Weber State and Colorado State. The building blocks of the Central High School football success were laid by an Armenian coach....Wayne Koligian.  Koligian was a long time Grizzly HC and assistant (he also won a Valley title as a HC at SJM).  One of the all-time National level Armenian Head Coaches was Ara Parseghian who came out of the "cradle of coaching" at the University of Miami at Ohio.  Parseghian was the HC at Miani, Ohio....Northwestern and Notre Dame. He was twice National Coach of the Year and won 2 Nat'l titles with the Fighting Irish.  So there have been a few good/great Armenian coaches (from the area and nationally as well).  Maybe others can name some more Armenian coaching legends that the Anthill may have over looked.

the could pose the question would Tark have been a successful NBA coach had a certain Italian organization not dissuaded him leaving Sin City for the City of Angels? Does The Anthill any info on this that perhaps the general public was not privy to?

Steve Sarkisian....damn. An obvious miss by the Anthill.  Thanks for the add Donnie.
