4. Kennedy

7. Wasco
8. Liberty
9. Centennial
10. North

Frontier @ Lincoln- this may get ugly, Lincoln lead by ex-BC Renegade & Fresno St Bulldog David Dunn.
BCHS @ Stockdale- This will be a running clock by 2nd half
Dorsey @ Bakersfield
Independence @ Kennedy- game of the week, two of the best coaches in the county. Its tough to go against Golla in big games, this one should be close.
Shafter @ Edison
Tulare Western @ Wasco
Central East @ Liberty- the downward spiral continues, Central wins by 4 scores
Centennial @ St. Joseph

hardhitter23

Frontier @ Lincoln Lincoln is good and Frontier will be another D3 champ as a D1 school
BCHS @ Stockdale Best team in Bakersfield
Dorsey @ Bakersfield
Independence @ Kennedy
Shafter @ Edison Tigers dont stand a chance
Tulare Western @ Wasco
Central East @ Liberty Central offense is scary
Centennial @ St. Joseph

Bud Kilmer

Frontier @ Lincoln
BCHS @ Stockdale - poor stockdale...
Dorsey @ Bakersfield
Independence @ Kennedy- Match up of the year so far. If were looking at just rosters, I like Kennedy. If were bringing coaching into the equation, I agree with Teddy.. hard to go against Golla.
Shafter @ Edison
Tulare Western @ Wasco - I believe this is next week. Both have a bye this week according to Maxpreps.
Central East @ Liberty- This might get just as ugly as that Stockdale game
Centennial @ St. Joseph - centennial only scored 28 on chavez....

I have heard this more than once, I will have to catch a BCHS game I understand they have a big o-line and some athletes.

Bud if Independence beats Kennedy and depending on the beating that Liberty receives from Central East...the stage may be set for Liberty to be 0-7

1. Liberty

6. Shafter
7. Garces
8. Centennial

Maxpreps is wrong, Indy just beat Centennial...garces played SJM who has wins against 2 0-4 teams. Liberty is no where near the best team in Kern, they will end up 3-7 this year.

I think is right. The MaxPreps rankings seem off, they are new to creating their own rankings. I'd like to see the Calpreps rankings.

Bud Kilmer

Yeah, I wasn't saying those are favored over yours. I was just stating what a computer biased system has.

Unfortunately, we've seen the CIF go with something closer to preps then Teddy's rankings before, so it really isn't that hard to believe.

TeddyKGB

I get what you're saying. The max preps ranking whatever they are using makes no sense. Liberty got throttled by Buchanan, Bakersfield beat Buchanan, regardless of forfeit, 28-14... how's it make sense that BHS would then be 3 spots below Liberty?

It's the teams that started with super high numbers haven't taken enough losses yet (which seems crazy) to knock their starting numbers down low enough to move them under those teams that beat them. And, once again, understand that this is the number CIF is using....

This has always been the problem with using the computer numbers, there is no human common sense element to adjust these teams based on head-to-head wins and losses.

human common sense, talk about an oxymoron!

Frontier @ Lincoln Lincoln will roll.
BCHS @ Stockdale Running clock by end of second quarter.
Dorsey @ Bakersfield Don't know much about Dorsey but the drillers are playing good football rn.
Independence @ Kennedy Game of the week. Should be a close game. If I am not mistaken, I believe Kennedy's HC was an assistant under Golla at BHS at some point (Someone correct me if I am wrong). Anyways, this game will come down to the wire, but I think Kennedy is the most battle tested team out of the two and that should help them win this game.
Shafter @ Edison Tigers Shafter will win but I think Edison will keep it competitive ish. Shafter has also played a really weak preseason schedule. I think we will know more about them once they play St. Joseph.
Tulare Western @ Wasco This will be Wasco's biggest test of the year so far, but I believe the tigers are ready for it and will show that the SSL is not just a Kennedy-Shafter race.
Central East @ Liberty The patriots will continue to struggle. Central should win by multiple scores.
Centennial @ St. Joseph

Frontier @ Lincoln
BCHS @ Stockdale
Dorsey @ Bakersfield
Independence @ Kennedy
Shafter @ Edison
Tulare Western @ Wasco  (next week?)
Central East @ Liberty
Centennial @ St. Joseph

it seems to be unanimous that Lincoln will beat Frontier and Central East beats Liberty...

which of these two games will be closer, more competitive? Lincoln's,#9 in so cal, only loss this season has been to Mission Viejo #2 in So Cal & #6 team in the US. Both of these games may get out of hand quickly. Liberty gets beat by the larger margin is my guess.

I think Liberty will score a lot and keep it closer than expected. Central can score at will but they dont play very good defense.

Went to Kennedy-Independence game tonight. Did not expect complete domination from Kennedy. Indy's only score came in garbage time. Kennedy controlled the game from start to finish.

The SSL will be extremely fun to watch.

Also, are the Liberty patriots starting to figure it out? They gave central a run for their money.

according to hardhitter central doesn't play very good defense so that have played a part and Central may have over looked Liberty a bit too.

I to was at this game. I was not impressed with Indy whatsoever. They looked not only overmatched, but out coached as well. Zero adjustments on either side of the ball from Golla.
