so does anybody know what is going to happen at Clovis South? Next year, they are going to have JV & Freshman teams. I believe Benny Martinez made it clear that he does not want to move up and is only coaching freshman (this could change). Are they going to try to hire someone after the season ends???

They didn't hire the head coach to open the school? Usually you would open with FS, JV, and a varsity made up of mostly Juniors. How did they do it?

They started Freshmen only.  El Diamante did the same when they opened, and it is the way to go if you can.  They put their varsity coaches in place though when they opened.

Next year will be JV only for many sports for CS and varsity for some I expect.

El D played two Varsity games their JV season and then went full Varsity slate when they only had juniors... they beat Arvin in a first round D3 game with a freshman QB.

They should have hired a head varsity coach when the school opened. This would have given that coach the opportunity to coach the first senior class all the way through and establish the program etc.what was Benny Martinez hired as initially?

so from my understanding is Benny was hired to just be the Freshman Hc but he was in charge of putting the staff together for the 7&8 teams too

Darth laid out the decline of EL D in detail in a recent thread.

Short version:
1) People who started the school all left/retired by mid-2010s.
2) Housing crisis hit them hard
3) All new growth now goes to NW
4) No consistency since old guard left

Couple of wins . They aren't great . Have a solid running back and a few big boys upfront

Someone on here said they did not have a teaching spot available for the head coach. I agree, they need to bring in the head coach right away to build the program.
