Sanger & Edison are both D2 in their base division. Edison won the season series & tied for second in the CMAC but they were dropped to D3. Sanger finished in last place & are bumped up to D3. Makes zero sense. I know the central section will never do it but I'd love to see 8 team brackets with best of 3 in the semis or championship. Some other form of double elimination would be awesome too.

I wish we could get explanations for these decisions. The Edison one on top of North getting jumped by Central....
If this is their playoff format for the foreseeable future, then we deserve explanations so we can understand the process as fans AND so the coaches understand the criteria they need to meet

The only explanation for Central ahead of Clovis North is because they finished one game ahead of them. But the head to head & overall record should make that better.

The Buchanan-Centennial rematch of last year's finals should be interesting.

Agreed. I'll be there before heading over to the Clovis West game. Not exactly the matchup a 1 seed wants in the second round. But they beat Centennail 14-5 earlier this year & of course dominated Buchanan in their three games ending Troy Glaus tenure.

I haven't been paying much attention, how's Frontier doing I know they had a solid pitcher, Durken.

CWClassof2007

#9 Centennial #8 5 Buchanan 4
#2 Liberty 3 #15 Tulare Western 2
#7 Stockdale 6 #10 Central 2
#5 Frontier 7 #12 Righetti 1
#3 Bullard 3 #14 Paso Robles 1

CHS upset by Madera. CN vs. Madera at CN Thursday. Central loses, CE loses, CHS loses, Buchanan loses...

CW wins 8-4. I'd drive to Visalia to watch a CN v CW championship.

Wyatt Prieto being back is huge for Clovis North at the plate & on the mound. I'm not counting out any of the Bakersfield schools in a one & done format. The last couple of years has not been kind to the TRAC in the playoffs.

TeddyKGB

looks like the SYRL is doing well with Frontier, Stockdale and Centennial all winning and the TRAC has really fallen off.

I'm sure JD will get the portal popping for CHS next year. An early exit just means he gets a head start on recruiting

Tulare Western pitcher was dicing. Box score has him going 6 inn. 2 hits. 1 earned run. Pitch count got the best of him I'd guess.

Game vs. stockdale should be a good one. Wouldn't be surprised if Stockdale pulls this one off.

Centennial @ CW
Frontier @ Bullard
Stockdale @ Liberty

I would like to see Centennial and Frontier pull off the road upsets.

How did everyone play it yesterday?  Did #1 pitchers throw, or did they roll the dice and go with their #2 starters?

I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say that they threw their Ace. I can't imagine a coach sitting his best pitcher. That would take giant cojones...like kick a 30 yard fg in the Valley Championship with no time remaining sized cojones...right izne?

Clovis West went with their #2 starter Jake Turley who is a FPU signee. Tyler Patrick, Fresno State signee, will pitch tomorrow & be set up to start in the championship if they make it there. Nolin Santillan was the #3 starter during league play. I imagine he will come in if someone struggles early. Brody Santos led the team in appearances & saves. Playing only two games a week after playing 3 per week during league play is great for teams with deep pitching.

Whether it's in Game 1 or game 2, the #2 Starter will need to win at least one game in these playoffs.  It all comes down to philosophy, are we trying to win one game, or win the whole thing?  I wasn't just asking you Teddy, wanted to hear from people who attended games yesterday.

I didn't believe you asked me specifically but I can only answer for me...
